Slooooowwww!

Hunted zone 259 for 4 days. 4 guys and we saw ZERO deer from the stand. Saw maybe 6-8 on the drive to and from the public land we hunt but they were all on a private farm property. Only saw 1 deer I would call mature and it was an average sized doe. The rest were all very small does that I would have certainly passed on.

Talked to a few other hunters and over opener they had some minor success but all small deer. I'm a little concerned about the deer in this area as there seem to be so few deer that guys are shooting whatever they see because its likely going to be the only one you see during the entire hunt. Biggest deer I heard about being taken was a spike buck. In the 4 days I hunted thurs-sunday I estimate we heard maybe 20-25 shots, some pretty far off in the distance.

Only excitement we had the entire time was seeing a bobcat on Saturday morning while hunting in the wind and rain.
