Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

  2. Pickled beets

Never heard of one where ya DON'T cook the beets....but who knows? Here's one I used years ago... EASY PICKLED BEETS (1 Quart) 2 bunches small beets – ends trimmed and scrubbed 4 small onions – sliced and separate rings ½ cup liquid from boiled beets ½ cup white vinegar ½ cup honey – go local! ¼ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon cinnamon or cinnamon stick ¼ teaspoon cloves Bring beets and enough water to cover to a boil over high heat. Reduce to medium and continue to boil for 45 minutes. With 5 minutes remaining on beets add onion slices. Drain beets and onions, reserving ½ cup of the liquid, set aside. While the beets and onions cool add beet liquid, vinegar, honey, salt, cinnamon, and cloves to medium sauce pan and bring to a boil. Peel beets (this should be easy once they are cooled), and slice. Add sliced beets and onions to a Mason jar, or air tight container of your choosing. Cover beets with boiled liquid, cover, and refrigerate at least 24 hours before eating. I prefer them after about 72 hours.
  3. Lunch

If that's lunch, I'd love to see dinner!!
  4. Pickled beets

We can't find our recipe for pickled beets. Haven't done this for a couple of years. Wife and I both certain we didn't cook the beets.....we just packed them in hot jars, poured the brine over, then boiled the sealed jars for 15-20 minutes. I can't find a recipe that says you don't have to cook beets. Does any one have such a recipe? Our brine contained cinnamon sticks and cloves. I imagine we could just add these ingredients to any regular vinegar/sugar/water brine though. Mostly just wondering about using raw beats vs uncooked beets. Thanks...Jim

  6. Lunch

    Looks good, for sure.
  7. Lunch

No, but this is what I would get if I was there.
  8. Direct to Dish

Really? I told them I will Only Agree to one year if the discounts are for one year and no problem. About two years ago I did call Direct TV and they wouldn't throw a deal. So I canceled my service then left for the weekend. I came home called them and said dish didn't show up to put it in and asked if they wanted me back has a new customer or if I just needed to let dish install it. They flipped it back on and gave me the deal. You will never get the "deal" with the first person you talk to. You have to talk to at least 2 people and the second one always gives in. I could really care less which one I have, but learning the channel number lineup sucks big time. I had dish about 6yrs ago and what made me go to direct tv is I had my dish get out of line on the roof of my two story house. They were gonna charge me $50-$100 for a tech to come set it right so I'd get a signal. I left and went to direct....The games they play are stupid.
  9. Who's ready?

Heard the teal started to move south from some friends fishing the Minnesota river. I hope some stuck around Princeton but I know there is some wood ducks around
  10. Direct to Dish

Dish Network is a little tufter to tune in. They use a skew to get both satellites that is why they are turned a little. I go through how much direct charges me every other year. I just ask for someone in charge and they usually lower it to a satisfactory amount. Last time they lowered it to 52 something because I have AT&T phone so they cut it in half.
  11. Lunch

That looks good. Don't pay no mind Dave to that instigator!!!
  12. Who's ready?

I am pretty much ready. Not sure where you guys are hunting but up here the weather looks really good. Cloudy, 50's, NW wind 5-10 MPH. Will be taking my son on his fist duck opener. I myself have not gone for many years so am actually quite excited for it. There are a few birds around so we should get a few. Will be hiking into a WPA that is a bit of a walk so crowds will not be an issue. Good chance we will have the pond to ourselves.
  13. Lunch

So, you're at Emma's for lunch?
  14. Who's ready?

    Good luck folks!
  15. Who's ready?

Yep, it's looking to be a warm one. I still have a bunch to get ready but i've got all day tomorrow to scout and prep. Good Luck!
  16. Lunch

Lunch.....fit for a king! Roast beef commercial with left over beef roast. Just thought I'd share.
  17. Honey burn

Maybe I should try something similar. I am hunting alone, but could probably get my neighbor to help. Thanks for the suggestion. Rockin Randy
  18. Direct to Dish

I called Direct yesterday and they offered me a fair price but it was only for 12 months and 12 months at regular price. That was with a 2 year contract. Dish is no contract and 24 months at one price. I asked the lady at Direct if they thought it was better to loose a customer of 35 years or match the competition.. She had no reasonable reply. So,, Hello Dish Network.. And I was on the phone 20 mins.
  19. Who's ready?

I am ready except it looks like it’s going to be warm and buggy.
  20. Opening Day

No clue yet somewhere with a cheap motel and some public land
  21. The recent heatwave has slowed down everything but mosquitos it seems. Lots of deer, whose young are losing their spots, were mobile until it hit 85 degrees. They've been congregating around white oak trees, whose acorns are dropping fast. Friday Sept. 22 is the autumnal equinox, the first official day of the astronomical fall. Colors are changing quickly and leaves are starting to fall. More than half the state is reporting 50 percent color with a handful reporting 75 percent color on the Wisconsin Department of Tourism's Fall Color Report (exit DNR).Deer archery and crossbow season opened on Saturday, Sept. 16. Small game, ruffed grouse, and turkey seasons are also open. There was also a youth duck hunt with hunters reporting it was hot with a large fresh hatch of mosquitos. Conditions look favorable for the opening of the northern zone duck season this weekend. Mallard and wood ducks are abundant and also spotted are increasing numbers of teal, shovelers and pintail. Woodcock season opens this weekend. Large numbers migrating Canada geese are flocking in and along with locally nesting "giant" Canada geese are starting to build up in numbers on area wetlands, crop fields, golf courses, parks, and other staging areas and hunters have been successful. .
  22. Who's ready for the season? Cant wait!
  23. Honey burn

After a while we only started hunting evening because we never had any come in the AM. We also started making a bit of noise when baiting (rattling cans) when we had two Bears working. They started coming in right after we baited so the bait, after noon and stay behind hunter seemed to work pretty well.

sorta helps, I'll find it... thanks... me and google just got it..... have to go see!!
  26. Joe Mauer

Hall of Fame? You must be joking...... Every player starts out like that. No one starts out with a 23 m dollar contract. He still averaged about 15 million per year for his career, that average probably goes up if he plays past 2018. I think he will be ok.
  27. Joe Mauer

Joe was also the 74th highest paid player the year he won the MVP. You may say he is over paid now but he was underpaid 1st half of his career. @Bobby Bass I don't think Joe is a future Hall of Famer, not even close to borderline but a great player none the less. I think if the Twins would have made a deeper playoff runs back when Morneau was healthy and Santana was Cy-young would have helped. But Joes playoff numbers are terrible. I could maybe see HOF if he would have stayed at catcher his entire career though..... But he will more than likely end up winning a gold glove at 2 positions, and with one being catcher that is pretty elite.
