Holy shiat, you guys are brutal. Contributing to the thousands of birds dying daily right now in this state. Just because they might be dying out of eyesight means it isn't happening?

Farking brutal.

Wow, so that's all it takes for you to buy in is a few News reports?  Where's all the proof of these 1000's of dying birds off in the bushes.  You would think a few would kack off around the 1000's of heartless bastards that feed them feeders since so many are around them!  Not happening.

May be we should all just break out the shotguns and help the DNR thin the herd, like every time someone finds a Deer with CWD! 😏

Go be silly! 😁

Off to Fleet Farm for more seed!  😉

This might be one of those times posting a link might help the cause.  I mean, if you care as much as it seems.

You mentioned you wouldn’t care if you were proven wrong on political things.  Maybe this is worth the time?

It's a simple thing to do, take down the feeders until warmer weather arrives and this thing supposedly dies down.

And it does hit the birds I am more fond of...............waterfowl and raptors.

Billions...............billions of birds die in this country every year, and how often do you actually find dead birds?

And here we have folks actually boasting about not doing shiat about something that could help the things they supposedly care about.

It rings very hollow.

Good point, we're told there's millions of starving and dying hungry children which 1000's of nonprofits are collecting money and every food chain is collecting tons of food to feed.   But where are they all, where are the long lines for food or full hospitals of dying starving kids?  May be their in the bushes dying with the birds and Big foot.  Believe what you want, about what ever you want. The News agencies are hardly trust worthy anymore and The Raptor Center although doing some good things, is not a Governing agency.  Just another nonprofit- looking for profits.  I'll wait for some facts and proof then another Bigfoot report.

I'm going to take it he took a punch at me in particular, and I'm fine with it.

I to care about raptors and eagles, hell we've had an eagles nest on the cabin lake for years and watching them raise there young .

Channel 4 news had a report also online and they stated the DNR at this time has no reports of small birds dying.

Bird flu is in our county but most people talking about it are the poultry farmers.

I did hear someone comment they told their kid if they went turkey hunting and got one, to just leave it lay, don’t bring it home.  I kinda had an issue with that.

There isn’t a documented case of it passing from the birds to people.

I guess I just haven’t seen much info on the current status of its saturation so I can’t say much more.

then why shoot one? I have a problem with people that shoot things, then throw them away. I only hunt what I use. I used to hunt ducks, the most fun ever, but I don't like eating them, so I stopped. its just grouse now.

that being said, I hate turkeys, there should be a open season on these in areas they don't belong ( northern mn ) and let who ever wants to shoot one, go ahead. I do think they do affect the grouse numbers, the DNR are 100% wrong on this. there are reports that turkeys will kill a grouse nest if its near there own nest.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
