Here's my 10 year old son's northern he caught in Canada on a fly-in we took 6-9-08. He enjoys walleye fishing but constantly wants to keep casting for "the big ones." We spent about 2/3 of our trip casting for and catching northerns in the 3-5lb range. It was fun seeing my son catch lots of fish especially because he was using lures that he picked out himself. When I saw this fish on the line, I told him to "Just hold on and keep the line tight." He did and I landed it for him by hand. He sometimes is a little apprehensive about holding northerns but he grabbed this one for pictures right away. He could barely hold it. It was 47" and was released right after the picture.

Very nice pics...had myself a good looking fish on the line this weekend but the closest i got it to the boat was about 5 feet directly under me.

Could see it thrashing around in the weeds and i couldn't get it to budge.
