Here is my buddies 12 pointer taken last Saturday at Camp Ripley. In his stand a whole 10 minutes in the morning and he had a 10 yard shot!

Finally had some good luck. I set up about 50yd over from the tree I was in last Sunday evening when I had two small bucks come by. This doe came by at 5pm and I shot her at 12yd. She went about 50yd before laying down to die, she never knew what hit her. I found her just like this. I stayed on stand until just after sunset and had a 4pt come by at 30yd.

Finally taking a break for lunch. Got to my morning spot late and spooked out what was probably a buck. Nothing came by on stand but the crows and bald eagles were going nuts about 150yd from me. I figured they were on either a gut pile or a deer carcass. I went to investigate and found a nice 8pt buck that was about 1/3 eaten. I am guessing he might have been laying there for 1-2 weeks. I will post a photo later tonight after I get back from my evening stand.

It took 2 hours to get my doe out of the woods. Remind me again why I hunt so far from the car?...

Cheetah you hunt that far from the car because that's likely where you need to be Come walk with me through a 1/4 mile of swamp water muck and bogs then come help drag a 220 pounder out with me, I'm finding out I'm not a young chicken anymore.

cheetah if you plan on grabbing thoose horns make sure you get a tag for it.Hate for someone to get in trouble for finding something like that. I think it is even free.

I called DNR about that 2 or 3 years ago... If the animal is all eaten up its just like walking up on a pair of sheds, you dont need a tag.

Hmmm... I wonder what would do something like that. If you look closely it looks like a surgeon just took a scalpel and sliced part of the hide off. Wolves? idk

It could have been any number of scavengers, wolves, coyotes, hawks, eagles, crows, you name it. Thats how they look when you find them a couple weeks too late.

Got this guy last night but didn't find him until this morning and the coyotes got one hind quarter, could've been worse. If I'd have walked 40 more feet last night I would've found him. Oh well, still plenty of meat left.
