gunflint
The post on Travel Cautions got me thinking about some of the stuff I've found along the highways and landings over the years. A new Carrhart jacket, various boat cushions, life jackets, gas cans, etc. Anyone else find any good stuff?

0 GotOne
Several years ago driving up 35W just before Bloomington a box full of Mr Heaters fell out of a truck. My buddy and I got about 8 to 10 heaters. Other people stopped, but we got all the good ones that didn't get hit by cars. I even gave one to a guy that stopped and didn't get one

0 polarsusd81
Last year about this time I went with my mom to pick up a glider and ottoman combination cause of the new addition to the family. We got it back down to the apartment, got unloaded and started heading back to her house to pick up my car, just as soon as we got on the highway, we saw a glider in the median, brand new, fell out of a truck. It had a couple scratches and one screw was sheared off, load it up and brought it to her house and with just a little cleaning and a new screw, it was just like new. Think of the odds.Tom
0 Scott K
I was in northern wisconsin heading north on hwy 53, had the wife and kids with me. I seen on the median there was a leather duffle bag. So I told the wife about what I saw, she agreed we should turn around, never know could be loaded with $$ we thought! So I drive 5 miles up the road to the next turn around then head back to where I seen this duffle bag. Im driving and looking for it , seen it pulled over and ran into the ditch to discover it was a black plastic garbage bag full of garbage! to this day the kids and wife give me crapp about this! 0 luckyc
Be careful pulling over on the freeway. I pulled over with my jeep to pick up something in the middle one time and before I could get out, a highway patrol was behind me. He said it was illegal to pull over in the center, quick thinking I said my transfer case had pop'd into neutral and I had to stop to shift back into high range. Luckily he bought it and sent me on my way.

0 dirtking
Quote:nothing really worth keeping yet, but, why is it that you'll see one shoe so many times along the road...? I know a guy who stopped and picked up ONE glove off the side of the road. Who would pick up one glove, right? About a mile later there lays the other glove and it had a 5-dollar bill in it. What are the chances?I have never scored anything too nice but do stop if I see something (not on the freeway - not worth it)

0 fishing tech
I have picked up a lot of tools. Ratchets, sockets, pliers, screw drivers, air nailers. I also have picked up about 4 cell phones. Only 1 worked by the time I got to it. Made a few calls and found the owner. I found a wallet one time. It had about $12,000 in checks in it. The owner was from out of state so I dropped it in the mail.

0 tunrevir
Going across on HWY 8 to the cabin on memorial weekend, just outside of the town of barron I see a large box in the road and a yellow and red something laying next to it. Get a little closer and I see a lifejacket. I pull over grab the box full of brand new life jackets and see a car pulled over up ahead. I figure I'll drive up and ask them if they are theirs. Nope not theirs either. I ended up with 6 adult Stearns lifejackets with the tags on them, still use them till this day!Tunrevir~
0 LwnmwnMan2
I mow the stip mall right off of 35 in Pine City. One day I found the corner of a $100 bill. The gas station just to the east had been mowed earlier that day or the day before, and I figured they'd hit the bill by accident and the rest was history. Well I continued mowing and about 5 minutes later, found the rest of the bill tucked way up under some brush. 2 years later (last year) I was mowing the same property, and found another $100 bill. Went to the KFC there for some free lunch and called the wife on the cell phone. She asked if I looked for anymore. I said no, but it's a wide open area that I was mowing, it was just sitting there, didn't think there were anymore around. After lunch I went back mowing, and sure enough, there's (2) more! For a total of $300. You can imagine, but then I REALLY started looking!! But that was it. There's a grocery store on that end of the strip mall, and I went in, asked if anyone had reported losing a set amount of money in the parking lot, but no one had....soooo..... I had a nice tip that week.
0 Orlip
Years ago the gas station I worked at was across the alley from the bar. Lots of cars would park behind the station and go to the bar on Friday nights. On Saturday mornings when we would pull everything out of the bays we would always come across money. I think when the fellas got a little tipsy and went to pull there keys out some money would fall out also.

I lost one south of Emily earlier this year, I also lost a rod bag with 3 rod and reels in it in between Blackduck and Bemidji! I guess I need to pack more carefully!
