Wirenut
Time to get the crappie rod's ready, wondering what everybody's choice of line is.I like to try different brands, what is your favorite?
RebelSS
I like Stren Crappie Mono in thee clear, 2 lb, and also Stren Clear blue regular in 4 lb.
HNTNBUX
I am going to be the oddball here. I like 8# power pro to a 20# fluorocarbon leader. I like to cast a jig right into the weeds.
gunner55
Been using some Cabela's,off a 1500 yd spool,4 lb green mono. But will use whatever we have as lomg as it's 4 lb
delmuts
My main line has always been XT solar in 4#, but did switch over to 1/8 PP with a flouro leader. ( getting old, needed the less stretch for hook sets)
Jeremy airjer W
3-4 pound P-Line.
mainbutter
5wt intermediate sinking line, I can throw slightly heavier flies and also get them down a bit deeper4wt WFF, my classic favorite for panfish as long as they can come up to shallower than 6ft deep and hit a fly.both typically using 4-6lb fluoro tippet to any decent leader
delcecchi
What's a good fly for crappies in the spring? Or in the summer for that matter. I've thought about doing some pan fishing with a fly rod on Vermilion. I could take my trout outfit, which is a 5 wt.
dan z
Another vote for p line. I like cxx 4#
ozzie
I quit using the pline for bobber rigs as it sinks in the water so when you go to hookset you have to raise your line out of the water and that caused me to lose fish. I went back to trilene red box 4lb stuff
JP Z
Del,The Mickey Finn is a tried and true little streamer. You could also try some different copper johns or Prince Nymphs.

Slabasaurus
Slab,What size are the simi seal leach that you are using? Thanks for the input! I tie these on the cheaper gamakatsu streamer hooks (S11-4L2H I think), pretty much stick to size 4-10, with most of the crappie/trout ones bein size 6.Itchmesir posted these in the what are you tyin thread back in feb of '13... been a staple in my flybox ever since. paceman
Good old Trilene XL 4#. Yep same here, although Gama will go on next. I have been using Gama in my walleye rods for the last few years. Love that line..
fishyspringer
I have been using the suffix Elite line. I like it so far. Seems to have less memory so it doesn't get so coiled up coming off the spinning reel.
Big Dave2
Whatever is on sale, it's a crappie for Pete's sake. The old guys used to catch them with a jiggle stick and cloth line right over the side of the boat.
DARK30
Trilene XL 6# clear. I haven't been to the old "spot" in years but when the crappies are in close enough to shore I may go try it. I can't very well see 4# and I just bought a buick so now its time to fish panfish I guess Anybody use a flu flu any more?
delmuts
"Anybody use a flu flu any more?" You mean the little hair/fur jigs? Oh ya! They are my back up if I can't get plastics to work. Have them in 1/80th oz. and 1/64th. Usually tip them with a wax worm.
Scott O.
I'm a fan of Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon line for my panfish/trout lines. Don't think many fill a spool with fluoro line, but I do and it works out quite well.
bbfenatic
I use the Berkley Cold Weather Blue 4lb...smooth, tough, casts forever and I only jig fish, hate using bobbers, and only watch the line for twitch/movement and not wait for the rod tip to bend at all...have tried Vanish that is Red out of water, clear in water and have that on a couple rods as well but like the Blue stuff better...Good Luck!
