So the good Lord dosent give one anything he/she cant handle. It surely can be worse. My baby boar, Halle Ann was diagnoised with scoliosis, hope I spelled that right. curveture of the spine. when i look at the xray it takes everything not lose it. this can be treated were told but its still toughand could be worse. I guesse she had such an immedeate growth spurt the spine couldnt form properly or something. Shes healthy and strong so she should be able with treatment get back in alignment. but her spine is pretty much is a letter S. you guys have been such a great Boar advocate on the form and I love you guys for it, but I could really use a little freindly prayer chain right now. i know shes gona be ok, I gave it up to the Lord to take care of this but its stil not easy when its ones own baby ray of sunshine. Thanks for listening

I know there are different levels of it, but my brother had it and still went on to be on the Wrestling team in High school and did some body building contests after high school. He didn't win any of them because he was to small compared to the other guys but he was a winner to me for just working and keeping at it. Fairy tail prayer sent, as some would say! smile

Boar, the great thing is they have caught and they will fix it, your daughter is living in a time where this treatable and she will recover from it, compared to when you and I were kids. As a parent, I know the fear that would be gripping me in a situation like this, my 13 year old son had a second check up this summer because there was concern about scoliosis, they cleared him but it reminded me of my middle school years when the school check up resulted in me going to the dr. as well.

My brother in law is an agent for a few guys on the PGA tour, one of them is Ken Duke, who still has a 16" steel rod in his back from scoliosis. He was diagnosed in middle school and they "watched it" to the point of that he needed surgery. He is a great guy and is a great inspiration to any and all with scoliosis. Look him up, he has an edowment at Univ. of Arkansas med school for scoliosis, and is active in the Scoliosis Research Society. Stacey Lewis on the LPGA tour is also a scoliosis survivor.

Now I am not saying your daughter is destined for LPGA tour, but the advancements made from when Ken was treated to today are phenominal. It might be a long drive from Red Lake Falls to Rochester, BUT, we do have the best medical facility in world in MN. Utilize it if you need to.

Boar..

I can relate. I was diagnosed with it at 11. They were talking back brace and everything. Eventually, I must have outgrown it. I grew to 6'1 inches and have had no problems. It didn't prevent me from entering into the military at 18. I am 54 now and have no issues.

So hang in there!! I will keep you and yours in my thoughts

You probably don't believe it, and that's okay, but I still pray for you and your family all the time. I'll ask for additional help with Halle's spinal condition.

There are terrific docs in both Grand Forks and Fargo, and even Crookston, that can help her with exercise, strengthening, and rehab.

First of all, prayers for you and your family.

I'll echo what Picks said. My nieice was diagnosed, had surgery and rods inserted in the back, followed by a recovery period of wearing a body brace. Now, you'd never know. Has one of the best looking golf swings I have seen.

Hang in there Boar. When I was 16 my back was also diagnosed as crooked as a S. Interesting as I grew another 5 inches my back straightened out and is now totally fine. Hope it works out the same for your daughter. Prayers sent.
