SkunkedAgain
I didn't want to hijack the BBQ thread, but it sparked a good question. Who does the majority of the cooking in your household - man or woman? My theory is that we're going to see more men. Who knows. In my house I do about 80% of the cooking with my wife jumping in when she wants something healthy or I'm busy doing something else.
McGurk
During the week (we both work M-F), I do most of the meals as I get home first, and on the weekends it is a free for all. Depends on what we are doing and if we are hosting. If I had to say a number, it would be 50/50 across the board.
Getanet
I do the majority of the cooking. If my wife cooks it usually just something she can heat and serve - like those Bertolli frozen pastas, or the chicken breasts pre-filled with asparagus and cheese that you can get at Target. To be honest, I prefer it that way because my wife makes such a mess when she cooks it drives me crazy.
reinhard1
i do it all 100% of the time. even when we were dating i brought her to may house to eat with very few times in resturants. my wife still works but i'm retired now. but nothing has changed since we have been married. i like to cook, and she likes my cooking so it all works out fine. now that she is still working i'm kind of a all around Mr. Mom i guess. clean, cook, take care of the house, laundry, and take care of my wifes mom who lives with us [she's 86]. we have never had an argument in 21 years of marriage. good luck. nofishfisherman
Years ago when my wife and I first got married we decided to split the cooking duties. We alternate weeks so one week I'll cook and the next week she cooks. And then who ever isn't cooking that week is in charge of laundry. Its a good division of labor and works for us. We both like cooking in general but both dislike cooking during the week when time is tight and we just worked a long day. On the weekends is when we both like to cook. Thats when we have enough time to be a little creative.
Leaky
I do about 95% of the cooking and grocery shopping. She works the typical 8-5, while have have a very flexible schedule which allows me to get things started so we aren't eating at 7:00 during the week. When I cook, she cleans up, which works for both of us. The toughest part is trying to stay fresh without eating the same stuff all the time. This forum has helped ALOT with that. pushbutton
I do the majority. This is in conjunction with the clean up rule. Who ever does the cooking, the other has to clean up...well, unless I do the cooking, then I also have to clean up. Somehow I always seem to end up with the short end

With our alternate week schedule we also made the rule that the cook also cleans. It gives the cook motivation to not be so messy while cooking. Besides then you can do the cleaning while you are waiting for things to cook or for water to boil, etc. There is always a little down time when cooking and I find thats the best time to get the cleaning done. Walleyehooker
I do 99% of the cooking and she does 99% of the dishes and 100% of the laundry. I cook better than she does and I hate doing dishes and laundry.
ThunderLund78
Mostly me,I'm more of a "live to eat" kind of person and my wife is more "eat to live." So because I subscribe to the theory that meals should be an experience, not just sustenance, I'm usually the one creating them. But I enjoy doing it and she usually cleans.I should point out, though, that if we were in a survival situation (hopefully never) that I'd out-do her in the "eat to live" category. Besides fish, she's not much for food you can't get at the grocery store. She does have a sweet tooth, though. So she does nearly all the baking and she's pretty good at it. Fish Head
Because I am usually home fairly late, my wife cooks more than I do. That's if you call frozen pizza cooking . I cook when I have time, but she does it more than me. I do all the cooking on holidays and occasions. She also does 99% of the cleaning and 100% of the laundry. B-man715
I have to do my own laundry too....Hhhmmmnnn....how do I get me one of them? You gotta test drive a few cars before you sit down and sign the papers!! LOL The Misses runs all of the complicated equipment (stove, oven, washer, dryer, vacuum). I run the simpler things like the grill, smoker, and lawn mower, and snowblower ) Overall she does most of the cooking, but I will put away the dishes (after she does them ) When we first started dating she didn't know how to boil water J/K Now she has become quite the chef! Always something new up her sleeve

picksbigwagon
I have been the cookingmfor about 17 years now and I am getting tired of it. In maybe 15 years we will be empty nesters and I can retire
Redlantern
I live alone so I do most of the cooking. Except when my daughter is with me. That girl can cook. I know I broke the Bro Code when I got her into grilling, but I couldn't help myself. The girl has a deep appreciation for New York Strips and spare ribs. We split the cleaning duties 50/50. Gets us out of the kitchen and onto the water faster that way.
BLACKJACK
On weekends I do 100% of the cooking, on the grill during the summer months. I like to make extra so during the week its just heat up leftovers and get outside (I sit in an office all day ) She does the occaisional lasagna and tacos, she also likes to bake so shes does bars, cakes and cookies - but goes in streaks because she doesn't want all that tempting food sitting around - then she gets a chocolate craving and will do some baking. She also does 99% of the cleanup, laundry, and house cleaning
harvey lee
I do all of the weekday meals and my wife cooks on the weekends unless it is in the smoker or grill. I have never minded it at all.
Chef
I (happily) do 99% of the cooking and meal planning. My Wife is an awesome baker when she's inspired and can "hold her own" in the kitchen as well.
thirdeye
The politically correct answer is I do 60% of the cooking and Mrs ~t~ does the other half..... PS, I do all of the outside cooking.
Dark Cloud
I cook, she bakes... Once in a while she gets in the mood to cook something and does a real good job... And I can say with a BIG smile, we have been together almost 6 years and in that time I have never touched laundry! Except since she has been pregnant I carry the basket up and down the stairs to the laundry room. And about twice a year I turn the dryer on to fluff things... Shes one of those wackos who likes doing laundry and I'd rather buy new cloths than do laundry...
fishersofmen
My wife does the majority of the cooking when it comes to actual meals. The only things I do are the grilling and frying fish. I dont do any laundry or dishes but get to mow and shovel. I do some of the cleaning as well.
KEN W
I do a lot of the cooking. She does some, plus all the deserts.
Dotch
I do most of it year round, indoors and out. She will do some of the baking things but I am fully capable in that dept., pies especially. Funny thing though, I do the cleaning up after she makes the mess. I feel like a kept man sometimes...
Eric Wettschreck
My wife does most of the cooking and she's wonderful at it. She's such a good cook I should actually be fat. However, I run the Weber.
