Wow,I'm way behind the times.Last year I went into town after dark. The station was closed so I had to make another trip the next morning.I don't recall seeing the number to call the registration in last year.Again I'm usually the last to figure these things out.Thank You to the MN DNR again for providing this invaluable service!!c63

I took mine in only because I wanted to have him weighed. Talking with the folks at the store, they weren't even keeping track of how many deer they had actually registered. Numbers were way down because of the online deal. Can understand their point as they were losing revenue. Online sure is nice tho!

My wife likes it, cause she doesnt have to get out of bed now...........

Yes, lots of phantom hunters each year regardless. My guess is online registration isn't going to increase the number of guys illegally tagging deer for their wives, girlfriends, mothers, MILs and so on. Or shooting a doe in a Lottery area next to a Managed and tagging it with a management tag. They were doing it before regardless. Just less effort this way. The honest will remain that way and so will the dishonest typically. That's why you don't see a huge jump in harvest numbers when an area goes from Lottery to Managed. Just fewer hunters now legally tagging those deer while the phantom hunter fade away into thin air.

There is no foolproof way of getting a 100% report. How ? 500,000 roughly hunting deer, they are leaving it up to the honesty of us, think of convicted felons that shouldn't possess guns, think they call to register um no they likely don't buy a tag. I like the DNR, I worry about the CO's welfare, cruising the dark, approaching so many gun toting people and you have no idea how sane the person they are checking is, I wish them all well, they didn't ask for exotics and the manpower they have to put into that effort, etc. etc. etc. They didn't ask for watching 10,000 lakes and half a million deer hunters etc. There jobs are extensive and boy do many take this anti dnr approach for reasons that rarely make sense other than self greed. Any DNR or CO you are more than welcome to a steak dinner at my house anytime and made that offer to 1 a few years back and had a great time talking about MN and it's pluses and minuses.
