Married. Find one with an education, drive and a taste for nice things. It helps if she likes to fish and wants to be comfortable and dry on the water. For every $200 pair of shoes she has I have a $200 rod. For every $100 pair of slacks she has I have a $200 reel. You get the picture, and her closet is 7 feet wide! grin

Married my entire adult life.

Most of my hunting/fishing gear is far from new. I pretty much built my 79 Starcraft and it's motor. Collected this that and the other thing over the years. Started small and built up from there.

Find a down home gal that likes to fish, knows how to butcher a deer, and isn't shy about bathing naked in the lake and you'll be set for life.

I'm married, and while I don't have the newest and best, I probably wouldn't even if I was single. Within reason, I buy what I want. She plays volleyball, softball, etc, and I fish when I want. If I wanted to fish more, I would, but I also enjoy spending time at home (and on the water) with her and the dog.

Married, 10 years. 2 kids, ages 6 and 8. They love getting out on the boat with me as much as possible and I love having their company!

It was my wife that suggested upgrading to a 2009 20 footer! from my 2006 18 footer! laugh Dang I love that woman!

and she said "Why would you want to put that new motor on that crappy old boat? Why don't you just get this whole new package?" smile

And the only time she's even been it is when I offer to buy dinner "over there" on the other side of the lake.

I've been married for 38 years to a gal that loves to fish in summer, but won't ice fish. When I bought my new boat I was talking about moving my 15 hp 4 stroke between my 14 footer and my 18 1/2' for a kicker and she asked me why I didn't just put a kicker on the new boat. When I came to again, I had one put on. She is showing some interest in ice fishing this winter and there is too much snow to get the wheel house on the ice.

Married for about 10 years, and while she doesn't get up early to go with me (she did BEFORE we got married, haha!) she still will go summer fishing and grouse hunting with me. She also just shakes her head when I come home with something new, and thinks I have a sickness...

Also, even before we were married, she is the one who convinced me to buy my dream bike, my (then) new truck, my first house, the cabin... she is the gas pedal and I am the brake wink usually.

but when I came home from NoDak and told her I bought a store (I really did...) she just laughed at me again. I can't and won't complain, best thing ever, and mine came with step kids, and my stepson and grandkids are now some of my best hunting and fishing partners. I hit the jackpot... smile

married 29 years. like someone said most of my stuff is older, but I still have fun with it. She loves to go out unto Lake superior in the summer, or fish the smaller lakes. not much for ice fishing, but does not mind me going.

ok, I've just got to ask this question: those of you that post about having the newest boats, electronics and seem to get out to fish 4 days a week, are you married, or single?

Although I do not fit all of your criteria above. Happily married for 10 years and she loves to fish as much, if not more than I do. She is the one that pushed me for the bigger, newer boat and more advanced electronics.

Wouldn't trade her for anything.

Married, untill my muskie addiction my wife fished as much as me, about 100 days a year, she guts my deer when we deer hunt, but she doensn't get into the muskies so now I fish 140 days a year. She gets spring and winter, and 3-4 times a year she will come out for an evening for muskies. Got back into snowmobiling this winter, getting her warmed up to having her own so we can do something together other than fish and sit in front of the TV.

My soon to be wife,( next month we will fix that! smile only gets upset if she can't go along. If i'm casting( which i do alot!) she just sits back and enjoys the time together and being on the water.( she likes to fish over the side with bait) She also has a trailer on the back waters of the Miss. grin

Being a single parent, money has always been tight. With both kids graduating college this year, and having jobs, i hope they will soon take over the car expenses, and such. This should boost my budget. I like quality equipement, but have to save in order to have it. I put $5 a week, the money from pop bottles, and all my loose change into my toy fund. I bought a new reel at Christmas time and i'm saving for a rod to go with it. My boat is a 1990 ranger fisherman in excellant shape and is great for how i fish. Older , but a nice ride!

I salute the people that have the bigger, faster boats , as long as they can afford them. I just wave as they go by me! grin

Northlander-What ever keeps her happy! For the rest of the post it dont matter if you go fishing every day or have the latest and greatest if the other half is fuggly and built like a building so that should be factored in also! If you hunt and fish and you find a woman that you know will get bent out of shape if you continue to do what ya love-move on. But if you plan on always being gone and barely doing stuff she enjoys outside of fishing/hunting why get married?Ya its great when she comes along but ya gotta have guy weekends with your buds every so often. You only live once. 5'8"..size zero..and beautiful been together since we were 15 so almost 20 years and going strong.
