HSO Deer Photo's

bmp78. Did that horse come from Wells County by any chance? I shot one almost identical to that deer out there 3 years ago. Nearly the same antler symmetry, and score!

It's a sleeper state! Really beautiful deer everyone. Nice to see the kids in pics as well!

Not sure about the score, Surewood. But he sure is a dandy old buck! Love the junk he's carrying. And no, not that "junk". blush Nice character in that rack, and the dark brown cap!

Lots of really good bucks showing up. Leave me one for muzzy season, huh?

This deer came out of the 3E2 area. We have not seen one like this before on the farm given the spread and tine length. The spread on the deer was 22 1/2 inches and had one tine on the left beam broken off (about 11 inches long). How has your hunt been going this year?

In the last two months I was able to get my very "city" wife, hunter safety certified, a new shotgun to fit her, not afraid to fire the new shotgun after a few trips to the range, and now I'm pretty sure I've achieved my goal of getting her hooked on hunting!!

You know what that means?? Yup, more time in the woods for me!

We went back to my home town area for MN opener last weekend, and were lucky enough to see deer (very surprising). We were in the double bull blind 1.5 hrs before legal shooting light because I knew the hunters on surrounding properties would be rolling in at first light and bumping deer around. Sure enough I was right. About 10 minutes before legal shooting we could make out 2 deer within 20 yds of the blind. I think I was more nervous/excited than she was. This buck, and a doe never moved for 10 minutes. As soon as legal light was upon us, my wife put the cross hairs on this 5 point. Dropped in his tracks!

I ended up passing on a spike and a few does all before 0900 Saturday. Heading back for 1 more day of hunting Saturday, then an all day sit in southern Iowa on Sunday.

Was able to get this guy this morning at 8. Had him running in with the rattle bag. Was really hoping to take him by bow, but knew if I passed on him I probably wouldn't get another chance... By far the most typical deer Ive shot. Biggest difference between either side was barely 1/2". Grossed 141 7/8".full-35183-3302-deer3.jpg

shot this little guy at exactly 1 pm today, I was about to fall asleep since I had just ate lunch. I just happened to look south down an opening and saw a rump disappear into a cluster of pines. I get the binos up and don't see anything, looked my just my eyes and saw a shadow through the clear cut and see that there were antlers attached. Game time! bleated twice with my can call and he came grunting in. One 70 yard shot anchored him for good. Not my biggest but my trigger finger had a nasty itch.

Here is the buck I got last Sunday morning. Big ten pt. I am still shakin. He is almost perfectly symmetrical. 34 inches around his neck. Weighed in at 205 lbs Tuesday afternoon when we got him home (minus the terderlions.) The taxidermist said somewhere just shy of 160. First time I have been hunting in a couple years, and I took him with my brand new 308. Absolutely hammered some nice crappies too. Only my fourth deer ever. One of the other ones was a really big nine. One of the best weekends of my life. I love having the horseshoe once in a while!!

PS, he had about 100 lbs of pine and sap between his antlers after I dropped him. I think he may have just rubbed down an 80 ft tall pine. Sorry I dont have a picture from the field, the guys with the camera are still hunting and my little helper wanted to get some pics before the taxidermist. She has been braggin at school.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
