snatcher20
So unless I missed it, was anybody else bothered that Discovery didn't acknowledge that Phil died. They seemed to foreshadow it with some stills and solo shots, but I don't recall them actually stating he died during filming. No memorial, or dates or anything. If that's the case, I think it's pretty tacky to go through the whole season bascially building up to when he dies. I would think out of respect they should have started last night's show with a segment or two dedicated to Phil and acknowledge he died. Then I'd be more fine showing what they did last night and what is planned for the rest of the season, including any footage with Phil. Jim Uran
Yeah I thought it was tacky also, but that's television for you. I almost expected them not to do anything right away about it. The season will go on as it was filmed.
eyebjim
They did a show dedicated to Phil a month or two ago. It was last season stuff though.
spearchucker
They also had tributes on their HSOforum and ran things about him on Discovery Channel when he died. I don't think it is tacky. Wait until the season is over before judging it as tacky.
spearchucker
Yep, I'd hate to mess with those Time Bandit boys, Johnathon is a hothead. Big mean son of a gun I bet. I don't like Keith anyways, I was glad to see him get shoved on his behind. That was a good show, it's going to be a crazy season. I saw Jonathan and Andy at last years Sports Show. He isn't all that big, maybe 5'10 or 11. I'm not saying he isn't tough, but he isn't that big.
spearchucker
McGurk, you can find out who gets kicked off Dancing with the Stars another day! The Mrs. and I have been saying for a week that we are glad to own 2 tv's, because it would be hard for me to watch DWTS when the Catch opener is on.DD It would be hard for me to watch DWTS no matter what is on... DTro
That would make Keith even a pippier squeak since he was looking down at him
LightningBG
I have a feeling the ground/floor in that wreck could have been pretty uneven. Pretty dangerous place to get in a shoving match with rust jagged metal everywhere and uneven footings. For some reason I found the episode to be lack luster. Not sure why, not enough crab coming in I guess because there was plenty of other stuff going on.
Jim Uran
That would make Keith even a pippier squeak since he was looking down at him Exactly, I thought Keith was a big guy the way he always yells and screams around at everyone, must be the little man syndrome. Jonathon looked huge compared to him.

Jonathon looked huge compared to him. That was my thought exactly about Keith. He must be really short. I wouldn't call Jonathon a pip squeak, but he definitely looks a lot bigger on camera than in real life.
J_D
Did you see the captains on Larry King last night? I was impressed with how normal these captains are, compared to what they look and act when up for endless hours on the ship.
SFC
They may be waiting to do a dedication for Phil when the opelio show starts. I believe that is when he had his stroke.
spearchucker
Phil didn't die until towards the end of the season.
solbes
I thought someone here said episode 13? Anyway it was closer to the end of the season than the beginning. I think airing the series in the order in which it was filmed makes sense. They could have added a short 5 second message about Phil at the start, but other than that I think it's fine. Discovery had lots of press about it when it actually happened.

Ryan_V
Looks like Edgar is having thoughts of leaving the boat. Can't say I blame him, I wouldn't be away from my family for those extended times these crab fishermen are!! I'm doing the job I'm doing, just for that reason. I could be making more doing something else, but my time with my family is something I'll never get back!! Pretty good episode!! That new capt, "wild bill" kinda came unglued, I'm liking him!!! LMITOUT
Yeah, ol' Wild Bill blew a gasket alright! Was that his son he was yelling at or another deckhand? The Time Bandit struck gold again. Those guys have been riding high the last two years and this season has started out well for them too.
SFC
I think he yelled at all of them at some point. Its nice to see a new crew ,I think it helps keep the show real. Why is Edgar crab fishing, money, family. Or are we seeing american chopper syndrome?
jeffreyd
I dont know if i like that wild bill, he has a short fuse and it is going to cause some big issues especially if he is already blaming the crew for his short comings.

Why is Edgar crab fishing, money, family. Or are we seeing american chopper syndrome? Pretty sure Edgar is there more for the family aspect of it. He's part owner as well. I'm sure the money is great, but his old man was a pioneer in the industry, and his family has a long fishing history......i think he feels it's expected of him. Like I said before, I wouldn't blame him one bit if he decided to stop doing it to be close to his family.
leech~~
Or are we seeing american chopper syndrome? It's really kind of sad that the producers of all these shows try and raise the viewing by having people start fights and other unneeded [PoorWordUsage] with each other. Everyone even the "Pickers" and the "Pawn shop" guys have to stand with their arms folded like they are some big "tough guys" just like american chopper did. Why do a couple of "Picker nerds" have to be betrayed as hard guys?
CAMAN
Why do a couple of "Picker nerds" have to be betrayed as hard guys? Because they're tired of the older boys stealing their lunch money!
