Ok, so the Mrs and I were sitting on the lake today and a disagreement came up about how much money has been spent on new ice fishing stuff this winter.

I blamed her -- she blamed me.

After 15-20 minutes of back and forth, we finally came to an agreement.

ITS ALL YOUR GUYS FAULT!!!

After spending the better part of every day at work reading through every forum, I can honestly say, I would have a lot more money today if it wasn't for Fishing Minnesota!!

Thanks for nothing!! LOL

Keep up the good work guys -- eventually I will run out of money.

You gotta get smart about this stuff. Many years ago, I set up a savings account at a separate bank. My secret toy account is what I like to call it. 250.00 dollars a month gets transferred from my check prior to get it going into the main bank account. My wife never even sees it and to this day, she does not even know about it. Its a perfect little account to dip into for fishing, hunting or whatever. I would recommend it to anyone....helps keep the marriage smooth.

In my 12 years of marraige, this has seemed to be my motto. I buy a $25000 boat, park it in the driveway, ask for forgiveness. I buy a new 4 wheeler, park it in the garage, ask for forgiveness. The list is too long. It seems to work for me.

My wife doesn't enjoy my ice fishing expenses. In the past 8 years I've bought 5 vexilars which I still have, 4 aqua vu's still have two, 4 power augers have them all, 5 flip overs which two got stolen, a custom built fish house, a LOTW fish house, and a camper turned fish house.

Besides the FL20 and X2 all the other things were bought on discount.

She doesn't complain about not having to pay for one bill though!!! She's got a good job and her spending is insane at time. Last year I bet she spent $1,500+ on plants and flowers for her garden on top of about $5-6K per year for landscape materials.

She has her accounts and I've got my accounts, it works great this way. She does get me about $50K a year in work so I can't complain!!! She manages a steak house and she not only knows how to sell steaks but also to sell my company to her customers, of course without overselling.

make the wife hand drill holes in 22" of ice if you want a new power auger. thats what i did yesterday and she said i could start looking. after she felt my pain of drilling those holes it is like for better or worse.

My wife and I have a very nice agreement. What ever she epends on her hobbies(scrapbooking stamping etc.) I can spend on mine. We don't keep real close track or argue about it. In fact, She bought my jason mitchell crappie rod for me and it wasn't a present! I think I might be ahead Full gunsafe, boat, atv I love that Woman.

Mrs. Kingifsher1 can't complain too much about how much I spend on fishing gear the next couple weeks 'cuz I just went out and spent a nice, large amount of $$ on a "rock" for her, plus paid expenses forward for a few months. Now, if/when she tries complaining, I'll just tell her that I spent a lot of money on her and made sure that things were taken care of for a while, and now I get to splurge on me. So far, it's worked. Just remember, give her something, then she won't complain. especially if it's jewelry.

What do they say on Garage Logic? The 24 hour rule.... Buy something, put it in open view where it would normally be stored, if it takes more than 24 hours to notice, you have every right to say...... Honey, that old thing, I bought that quite some time ago!!!!!

My wife really does have a nice 20 guage Beretta that she has never shot. It REALLY is nice!!!!!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
