Anyone seen ice yet?

I just wanted to see if any ice was forming around the state. Up here in Duluth, the shallower lakes have started to skim over with ice in the shallow bays and pockets but are still a ways from freezing up all the way. Any other reports?

Small ponds are froze over with this cold front that came thorugh. Hard to say if that crust will stay on. Looks like its going to warm up a bit next week! Hope it doesnt got to be on the ice by thanksgiving to win a bet!!!

I walked on ice tonight. Snuck out for duck hunting on a slough that was wide open last night at 11pm, and drove the boat literally on top of thicker ice than I imagined. Couldn't quite make it to the open water spot. Had to get out and push the boat back into the water and go home... It's cold!

I have seen ice decide to put a picture here so we could remember what it looks like just incase. The water here is only about 2-3 feet deep it is a waterfowl production area. Yesterday it was loaded with Mallards today it was froze over. Devils Lake's water surface temp was dropping today. It was steaming all day.

So it shouldn't be too long now until we have a lake froze over.

Most of the smaller ponds and lakes should get ice on them tonight as temps are supposed to drop below zero and with no wind. They have been talkjing about a warm up over the weekend but are saying that it will be back to cold by monday. It wont be long now!

The duck slough we planned on hunting today was frozen up tight, didn't try to walk acrossed it though, also there was ice on the edge of some lakes.

Johnson Lake north of Babbitt(and to a lesser extent south of Ely) was froze up except where the stream outlet by Co. Rd 21 is.

The winds have calmed and it is only 8 degrees now so it has to be makin' ice!

I think Lake Irving (connected to Lake Bemidji) may have a thin layer of ice over it Thursday morning. It was starting to glaze over in some spots late this evening.

Dan, got up this morning after having the night off work and have 1" of ice on the pond in the back yard. Even though there is supposed to be a little warm up here, it should not change that much. Need to make some future plans to meet up at Frankie's to do some fishing when you get back.

The south end of Chisago Lake had a skim of ice about 75 yards out from shore.. I am sure it will melt today.. but that means its getting close.!

Saw a lot of ice on my way to work this morning. A small lake south of Hastings and a some other small bodies of water completely iced over in Red Wing. The lake by the casino was also covered, except for the channel. Depends on this weekend, but it shouldn't be long!! Sweet!!!

ShawnnyB and I use Frankies almost exclusively. Maybe we can meet up sometime this season on some hard water. I plan on being out as soon as the larger lakes freeze over with the hovercraft. It's fun watching people from shore watch you fish on 1" of ice :-)

Lake Vermilion, by Tower, had skim ice on some of the shallow protected bays this morning. Below zero in some areas this morning also!

It may not be long before we are walking out on hard water if the weather holds!

Driving from Owatonna to Albert Lea this morning and noticed that all of the ponds, Lake Geneva and Fountain Lake were iced over. Both of the lakes are decent sized, but pretty shallow. The forcast calls for 40s over the weekend but temps in the 20s at night.

I saw some ice in the metro this morning-The shallow end of Mitchell Lake off of Hwy 5 was glazed over as were many of the ponds on the way to work-I also saw ice inside of my windows at home because my storm windows are cheap.

Well lets see I live out here by Deitz and I saw that Lil Green was frozen all the way across, the lil pond behind trappers,( i heard it was an old walleye rearing pond) was totaly frozen across, I didnt have time to check the channel between Chisago and South Lindstrom lakes but IM sure its frozen. Im thinking Me and Hovermn will be out on Sunday Whooohoooo C'on Big Paper lips!

Several smaller lakes are locked up tight this morning. Lakes I duck hunt when it gets this cold, are now solid ice! These lakes are 20' deep!! I'm quite surprised.

Many ponds and smaller lakes around the west metro were iced over this morning, but with temps close to 50 by Sunday, don't look for it to stay very long!

CMON weather HOLD up!

A few of the smaller lakes that I fish like 3 island lake are froze over! Its only a matter of 3 nights or so of around zero degree weather and Im going to be out ice fishing!

This was around the Turltle River area. Theres a few of those lakes in that area froze over as of today.

One of the lakes right by the Vikes Winterpark ( Smatana ) is frozen. All but where a flock of about 100 geese are stirring it up. It was clear ice this am and has turned cloudy now. Any ideas why that is?

This morning I flew from Roseau to Minneapolis and from the airplane I saw lots of ice on the smaller lakes. It was 4 below there this AM. The sky was clear except for this huge, round cloud sitting right on top of Red Lake. I'm no Ken Barlow, but it looked like the cloud was made from the steam coming off the lake.

Big and Little Detroit froze over last night. I didn't get a chance to check out any of the other bigger lakes to see what's still open. The small stuff had been frozen over since last weekend.
