Old Man does it again!

Dad's 90 years old and still takin' care of business.

Opening morning, last Monday, we saw a pile of birds. 4 jakes right in out lap, he chose to pass. Later he missed a nice tom that would come no closer than 40 yards. Still, 20+ birds, half (?) were mature toms, strutters all over the place!

Yesterday ONLY about 17-18. Three toms, two jakes, none close.

This morning we got all set up and my gut told me we needed to move closer to where they had been coming out. 10 minutes later we were set up on a grassy fenceline. 10 minutes later this nice tom was dead!

Two hens came first, then a few more, then this big boy came out and headed straight for my Best Turkey Decoy jake. He dropped him at about 20 yards. Birds were still pouring into the field including one other nice strutter, so we just sat and enjoyed the show for a while before collecting his trophy.

24+ lbs, 9 1/2" beard, 3/4" sharp spurs. Congrats Pop!

No doubt, he's got another decade + left of turkey hunts in the tank for sure! I think the miss was intentional to spend a few extra days in the turkey woods w/ DonBo! Congrats!

Thats awesome Don! Good for you both! I lost my dad, unexpectedly, a little over a year ago at 62. Id give anything for another day in the blind with him!

Those are some of the best moments. I know you were concerned about getting your Pop out into the woods again this year. I hope he's got a few more in him. He looks great and he's got a pretty good guide.
