We hunted just outside of Hackensack and went 6 for 9. 5 bucks and a doe, including my first wall hanger! Action was morning and evening with the midday action next to nothing with the high winds. But all in all a very successfull hunt for our group

Hunted the river bottoms in SC MN. Counted 40+ shots to the east on Sat. and 30 Shots to the West on Sunday. We only saw 5 deer on Sat. Small buck and the rest were does. Passed on them all. Sunday was even slower, saw one doe and I didn't let her walk away. My stand felt like I was riding a mechanical bull in that wind

my party of 4 hunted south of bemidji on private land. saturday was the best day my party shot a fork and a doe in the morning. in the evening our party saw 14 total and didnt pull the trigger on any of them. Sunday was slow a few does and fawns seen one buck shot at and missed. monday morning real slow. With as many does as we saw none of them were being harassed by bucks so that tells me that the rut hasnt started yet. Alot of scrapes and rubs tho so its not to far off.

I havent hunting for deer for almost 5 years now and is getting hungry for vension, got invited to my brother in laws land.

we all saw 3 doe on saturday, the one my future brother in law could had shot it if he haven't took nap against the tree and woke up to doe 10 yards away staring at him.

On Sunday nothing was moving all morning till my future brother in law kick the buck to me. It ran up the hill and disappear in thick bush where I couldn't see. And all of sudden it's popped out of bushes 30 yards from me. I got to admit I rushed the shot I broken both shoulder on first shot, it ran on hind legs crashing bushes and fences. Like a rookie I panicked and decide to take another shot again I rushed the shot. broke its spine on second shot. I felt bad that it didn't died right away, i got down to ground and finished it off on third shot. The 8 point buck wasn't big but I will take it as my first buck ever. It's got me hooked on deer hunting again! This time I will try not to rush my shot, Can't wait to go back out in woods this weekend!

Watched a couple of does under my stand first thing opening morning, Sunday my son shot a 7 pointer, another in the party shot a fork horn, Momday a party member got a spike and my best friend shot a large 8 pointer that dressed 205#. Mission was accomplished with my son getting a buck as he has not been able to get up at all this fall and was only able to hunt sat. and sun. as his girl friend has been under going tests in preperation for heart surgery before thanksgiving.

Surewood, Rick says you guaranteed a 170 class this year!!!

I would have to say i agree with what the dnr spoksman said. Our group of four hunting south of the metro never fired a shot. although the neighbors did. closest i came was pulling up on a 6 or 8, but wasent sure of the four on one side deal. I hope with cooler temps and calmer winds this weekend might produce.

A MN DNR represetative on WCCO radio yesterday morning was talking about the statewide weekend deer harvest beeing slow. He went on to say it appears the rut will start 5 to 7 days later this year.

We went 3 for 7 on opening weekend with two misses as well. I talked to two Wardens that checked me as I was coming out on Sunday and they said all the Deer that they have seen so far were all small bucks and Doe's. I think the Rut's a little late as well but the wind didn't help at all. All our Deer were taken by just two guys and they both were backed up to some pretty heavy swamp where the Deer were coming out of. 4 of us didn't even see one Deer in two days! frown But we have two more weekends. smile

Rut has begun according to our trailcams, but not when we want it to, midnight to 4 AM the bucks are flying around. Sidenote, had a couple guys trying to get their deer at 8:00PM last night just down from our house geez, a lot of poaching activity in my area unfortunately, guy took a 6 pm shot from his truck out in the field across the road, been pretty ugly in my area, lots of deerless people make them ansy or what is the deal.

Think the rut is kicking in tho. One party member shot a 6 point buck opening morning and it neck wasn't swollen up or nothing. The big 10 that I shot was swelled up like none other and dogging a doe down the trail. Full blown rut for him. They were hanging side by side on the meat pole and the difference in the necks of the two bucks was extremely noticeable considering their body sizes were too far off.

We hunt in Brainerd to the action was very slow, only filled 2 buck tags between 5 of us, the deer moved some saturday morning not at all at night and with the lull in the wind for a bit Sunday morning thats when we shot our deer. Not nearly as many shots as normal in our area the afternoons almost no shooting at all

Sunday was my first day out, saw at least a dozen deer (mighta been more just beyond some cover) that day. Took one small buck, and kicking myself for not taking one of the does to use up my bonus tag. I didn't want my first time out hunting to end two hours into it, but since then I haven't seen anything within range of shooting, except a handful of runners and one deer I spooked this morning before shooting hours.

It was supposed to be cloudy today, all this bright sun is starting to annoy me.

Hunting up near Fergus Falls on new to me private property. Didn't have much time to scout due to work and a very uncomfortable wife due in the coming months. Saturday morning driving out to the property (south of town) saw 10 deer in the road ditches including a VERY nice buck....they were moving at night. Once daylight hit, my buddy and I didn't see anythign really move as the wind was howling. Kicked up two does but they didn't move in our favor. Sunday, my buddy missed a shot on a large doe and got a smaller doe (he might not get an invite next year after that! grin )

Didn't see anything else sunday. Zero wait at Fergus Locker and when I filled up at the gas station, they only had 2 registered on Sat and only a handful registered as of Sunday evening. Quiet weekend to say the least due to the wind. Hopefully this weekend presents more opportunities...(or at least 1 good one for me)

Hunted public land near Giants Ridge in Biwabik, MN. We ended up 1 for 6, pretty poor hunting. The wind was crazy, had me scared to be in a tree with some gusts up to 40 mpg. We got the 1 good sized doe, and had 2 small buck sightings in our group. Saw deer (3 doe total) on the way out both nights but it was after legal shooting time. Talked to other groups of guys I know that hunt in the Iron Range area and they were 3/14, 0/8, and 1/7. Worst that I have heard in a LONG time. Going back up on Thursday and hoping for some improved hunting! That wind will be gone and that should help a lot.

I don't feel like 4-19 is very good...

We didn't see many deer, a few were missed that should have been shot however. My son almost got a shot. He wasn't that excited about deer hunting, now he's a bit more psyched for it, which is great. They were really close, but the brush they were in behind us was so thick we could only see them when they moved.

We are up in LOW County and 4 of us never saw a deer. Our land was totaly devoid of water. 26 years never seen it quite that dry. The creek which runs through the property did not have a drop of water in it. I'm guessing up where we were, if you had water nearby, you probably had deer. Some camps did real well, not ours.
