MN Bull Elk Found...

Recommended Posts

Can anyone confirm validity of this? What a find!

The information I have on this, is that this elk was found hung up in fence upside down, on state land with it's antlers embedded into the ground. A muzzleloader hunter found it, and was able to help set it free. He found it a week later still a live, but a few days later it had died. He then turned it in to the game warden, who then returned it to him a week later. It has a "green" net score of 456 4/8 NT and gross 475 5/8 NT.

The story is true, I believe it was somewhere near Warroad. The guys that found it are buddies of a guy who works with my wife. I have photos from when it was still stuck, before they freed it. (not pretty)

I'm tellin' ya, I know a guy who knows these guys. (I know, it sounds like a friends nieces, brother-in-laws neighbors mailman, but it ain't like that) I got pics weeks ago from this guy while it was still stuck in the ground, then a week later after they found it dead. This guy is originally from Warroad and the guys who found it are friends of his, he's know his whole life.

You can all doubt if you want, but it's a true story. Just sayin'.

Does anyone have a story in a local paper or anything to validate?

We all see way too often about a big buck that was taken by a brothers buddies cousin, and 90% of them turn out to be a big farse.

Awesome animal, but I am holding out on "the story" at this point. laugh

MN Elk

Infomation confirmed on another forum by site admin:

Its green score is 456 4/8 NT net. Its gross score is 475 5/8. He has 78 6/8" of mass.

He is a wild MN elk that flipped upside down jumping a barbed wire fence on state land in Northern MN. His antlers stuck in the ground and been there a couple of hours. Ryan Muirhead while muzzleloader hunting and found him, he got help to flip him back, and the elk walked away. It was25 below wind chill at this time. Two days later he went to see if it made it, but found it 600 yards away still alive. It died shortly later and was given to the Game warden who a week later gave it back to him.
