World Class Minnesota Whitetail video

A man filmed this buck in his yard near downtown Excelsior, a small town

in southeast Minnesota, on August 31, 2010. Talk about a "house buck!"

The buck in this video is a world class typical whitetail. It appears to

me that he might outscore the Milo Hanson buck, the world record B&C typical

killed in Saskatchewan in 1993. The Hanson buck scored 213 5/8 inches B&C.

The Hanson buck is wider, but this Minnesota buck has a tall basket rack with

long tines. Take a look at the video and see what you think.

Excelsior is a suburb of the twin cities, I don't know of a small southeast MN town called Excelsior. Nonetheless, that is an impressive buck. I know if I had that buck on Video, I don't know if I would share it with friends, much less the public. I wonder if the guy that filmed it even hunts.

I think that buck would cause me to shake right out of my stand.... Wow. Excelcier is right down the road from here. NOT south east mn. More like west metro. Yeah. Prob should have kepth that on the D.L.

there is a reason those metro bucks get to big, no hunting, almost endless supply of food (bird feeders, corn for ducks and smaller stuff) lots of different marsh areas to hide out in. My gf lives right next to weaver lake and they have that little marsh area connected to the park every morning i leave really early the motion light outside it on from deer snacking on ppls bird food and corn.

Anyone think the videographer may have used the name to confuse internet scouters? Unless he truly is stupid...

The person could be a non hunter and doesnt realize that there are people out there dumb enough to try and get that deer.

With that said, this could be anywhere in MN, much less across the country. There is no proof its from Excelsior. Could be a very smart guy, and filmed it in Illinois and said it was Excelsior, MN. Who knows.

Yeah I wouldn't put much stock into the location unless there was an Excelsior water tower in the background! If I had captured that video, the only way it would be seen would be from my living room with all the blinds closed. That's an exceptional deer. Next year, he'll probably be just another huge non-typical but this year, he's truly something special.

He's no doubt a bruiser, but outscore the Hanson buck? I dunno? Doesn't have the main beam length, not nearly the inside spread, and probably not quite as much tine length either.

Don't get me wrong though, I sure wouldn't let him walk so I could wait on a bigger buck! smile

He's beautiful! I personally watched a buck I'm sure would have gone 185-190+ in a residential area of Golden Valley two year ago. My legs were all tingly just watching him from the truck! Wouldn't surprise me a bit to see this deer in Excelsior.

I dont think it would outscore the Hansen buck but its most certainly a 200+ incredible buck!

I think you nailed that one, probably not a WR but I think he gets to 200. I will see you guys in a month, I am going to volunteer as a mailman in Excelsior and peak into some back yards.

What a gorgeous buck!! The thing I love about it is the balance.... nothing looks crazy.... Has great mass, tine length and color.... I'm not even close to educated enough to be a reasonable judge of what he would score, but from looking at the picture of the Hanson buck, I don't think he's even that close.... but I guess I'd shoot him!! grin

I hope he walks through zone 348 this year! Wow that is a nice buck!

lol im with ya buddy... man truly one nice buck. Im not sure if another year will add more mass because dont bucks reach an age were they are at their prime with the biggest ever rack they can produce and then after that they become an old fart with bad racks and just hang around the heard?

either way man that thing is beautiful
