Federline, did you spend too much time on the ice this morning fishing instead of family time??? Cheating with the ice fishing passion??!! just curious....

I got something I normally don't get because of my work schedule. I got to spend quality time with my wife, parents, brother, sister-in-law and two little nieces. We got to enjoy a small town church service, season greetings and the fun of teasing my nieces about getting gifts. Watching those girls rip open gifts was all that I needed.

I think Cliffy said it best. I am also getting some extra time with some family members, and attended a quaint little Christmas Eve service in a small-town church last night. It's been great.

Agreed, I got to spend time with my family which is always a nice thing. I rarely have any holidays off, so it's extra special. I did score and got my 1st Jiffy Auger, no more borrowing from the pops. Also came away with a couple new Beaver Dams and a Big Buddy heater. A great year, snow, ice, cold weather, I'm in heaven.

Tightlines,

Gatorbait

Get the ol chip for the h20... the northern lakes chip or whatever it is i can't think.. but you won't be disappointed, i have had 3 gps' and the h20 with the chip is amazing... lots of lakes 1 ft contour lots with just some contour but much easier, lots less holes to drill to find your area...

A Quantum Accurist, a Ben Franklin at Thorne Bros. to burn up, Cabela's GC, the new lakemaster Paper Map for LOW and one for Winni.

Time abroad with my family. And savings on the trip to use on goose decoys and ice fishing things when I get back to MN.

Merry Christmas to all. smile.gif

As most everyone in my family knows, I'm extremely hard to shop for, as my hobbies (mainly hunting and fishing) are either outside of what they do, or I'm a little too specific for them to find (e.g. Musky marabou tandem bucktail in orange and black(is that too hard?)), so I got gift certificates to the place formerly known as Galyan's, Gander Mountain, a visa gift card, and a gift card to Wally world; as well as cash. Now the hard part comes!!! Choices, choices!!!!!

wow wanderingeyes you made out well!!!

Well my old auger went bad on me this year, so I needed one asap, that was a couple weeks before christmas. So I just went out and bought it for myself. The others were from family members, they all knew I wanted the Aqua Vu, and I was going to get it from the wife, but when I had to buy an auger, they stepped up and bought the camera for me, then the wife bought me the big buddy, so I could have something to open from her.

I do feel lucky, as I got to spend the holidays with family, and I got out tonight for some fishing with my son, Priceless!

I turned 30 this year, I do not get anything for Christmas anymore grin.gif.

Just happy to have another great time with my family. You never know when they might not be there the next day.

I did how ever get $50 from grandma and grandpa and my second Black and Decker power adjusting wrench from my other Grandma. Glad to have another Christmas with them still here.

Kids how ever got a ton of toys and what not.

It was a great Christmas. cool.gif

Got a great multi-brightness 4 LED headlamp, and an awesome pair of new Cabela's winter boots...both will get some use on Mille Lacs when I go up starting on Thursday. I got my son his first ice fishing rod (he is 7) and he is coming with me the the big pond.

What was more fun was the giving this year. I dug deep for the family and got my wonderful wife a diamond necklace and earrings, and my both my kids a NintendoDS portable game thing. The looks on everyone's faces still brings a smile to mine cool.gif That and getting to spend the day with my wife and kids, my folks, my siblings and their spouses, and my 10 month old nephew made it all right with the world for a day.

Glock you hit it dead on their, once you hit a certain age, it is more about the giving, and seeing the reaction of the others. Giving is much better then recieving, my children made out better then any year before this one. The wife I skimped on a bit, but I will need to make that up to her soon!

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
