My barber of over 30 years has struggled from complications from the virus so I needed move on to something new. I am an old music guy so this place seemed right, and just had my second cut with him. Some cool conversations.

Haha!  Thanks Mike!  Nice to have deer in the yard. 
 

Ive been checking in and trying to get some good pics to share but been kinda busy.  Decided to buy a business and am still working my regular job.  The new ownership transition has been interesting, I’ll say that.

 

Ill drop a few even though they’re not the quality  I was hoping for.

I had a reminiscing trip today.  We kayaked the Pine River from the dam in town to the 15 bridge just before the Whitefish.  We used to have a family cabin along that stretch back when a kid could wander the woods and logging roads through Potlatch land and other parcels before anyone really gave a rip if you were there.  Just don’t mess things up.  

 

Now most of the ground is posted and Potlatch sold out as well.  That’s where I learned to hunt and we spent our summers catching rock bass in the river with occasional pike and walleyes.  It was heaven for us.  Now I’d have to get permission from 20 different owners to walk the same ground.  The river has filled in some with “new” islands and cattails that weren’t there 30 years ago.  The fishing holes are still pretty much the same but there aren’t as many fish as I remember.  Still, I knew where to cast for some sure hits.

 

I still have my fist duck, a wood duck, mounted from that river.  Shot my first deer and many others along with my first mounter there.  Hunted grouse, saw my first black bear, fought with a flying squirrel, hunted gray squirrels,  trapped, learned about porcupines, the list goes on and on.

 

When we got back to the dam to pick up the other car, Van Halen was on 107.5 with “Change! Nothin stays the same”.  Sad but true in this case.  Great day but possibly the last time I’ll ever be on the river or in the woods that built me.
