warm boots. I also bought her the womens ice armor suit. we have a clam base camp thermal and a big buddy heater. we get the house hot and she will sit there all day. she loves watching the fish on the flasher and trying get them to bite. she doesn't ask to go in the winter like she asks to go in the summer. only reason she comes in the summer is to tan and drink beer. she comes in the winter to catch fish

I agree with the warm clothing, especially boots and a potty site. My wife loves to fish and will spend 12 hrs staring at the Vexi on LOW, and having a ball. In fact she can outfish me as well. I just tell her it took a good guide to put her on the fish. LOL At the cabin in the summer we spend hundreds of hours in the boat each year, obviously much warmer but she loves to fish any chance she can. No doubt thats a good thing regardless of the season.... grin

I love to go fishing with my husband. Life can be crazy and busy, but now that the kids are gone (yippee!) time spent on the ice is sometimes the only time we get to relax. We talk about the strangest things!

One thing I've noticed over the years is that when I get a bit bored I start thinking about the things I should be doing at home and feeling a bit guilty for not getting it done. So if you really want her to go, help keep up on household chores so she can fish without guilt.

My husband likes it when I go with him because there's no 'fishing widow' guilt and I bring better food. grin

The older I get, the more I enjoy having the wife come with, either in the fish house or the boat. She complains less than a lot of men I have fished with.

I my experience if you "Take care of your wife, She Will Take Care Of You"

my wife loves to fish but in the open water mostly. when she does go with me i keep her warm and take a seperate portable along with a heater and a bucket/with bag with toilet seat for nature calls. i bring the old green coleman stove and heat up some soup or just heat up some venison kielbasa on buns with sourkrout with bacon for toppings. since it's only a few times [once or twice] i make her as comfortable as possible. good luck.

Warm clothes and boots most important!

Do not take her out in the dark of morning to set up, nothing worse than having them tired, cold and nervous about being on a lake at dark. Let her decide how long, what she wants to fish for, use whatever she wants for equipment, and make sure at the end of the day you stop at a local bar/restuarant to get something to eat. Make it about HER! I get the chance to ice fish with my wife and daughter ocassionally. So for the times they go out its about them, I have plenty of my time alone.

My wife now books our stays at Appeldoorns for ice fishing. That weekend is a riot and the three of us get to enjoy each others company and catch fish in a great house, talk about comfy!

My wife enjoys ice fishing once every 12 years. Usually on a late March day when the temp is 50 degrees and sun is out. If your wife really wants to go ice fishing its up to her to tell you what she wants to make her comfortable. I did take my wife to Sportsman's at LOW one time and she said she actually enjoyed it in the hotel and fishhouse. I fished for two full days and she made it a 1/2 day and rode back into Sportsman's at noon. When I got back in she had the nails all polished up, the hair done and was ready for dinner.

Reading and comfy is to be left at home. If shes not the first one out the door or the first one to bug you about ice fishing, she's probably not interested. Better to leave her at home. I'm a lady and I think about ice fishing as soon as deer hunting season is over. Like right now, I've got the itch already for ice. Not to be mean. But ice fishing is about being outdoors and actually fishing, not sitting in doors all warm and cozy. That's for after. I'm a hole hopper and always on my feet. If fish are not biting, I'm moving. It's about doing things together that you both will enjoy. If you don' t want her to be mad and have you packing after a few hours, better to stay home and find something else to do at another time. But other than that; warm clothes, good socks and boots will do. Of course it is ICE FISHING, so its gonna be cold.

When we were still dating, my wife met me to go ice fishing after work one day. She showed up in Uggs and wound up soaking wet. I kept her warm by keeping her on fish. She caught a ton and didn't complain at all.

I did take her to Cabelas to get a real pair of boots the next weekend smile

I think if you keep the fish coming and have the necessary gear to be dry and warm, you won't hear any complaints.

Spend the extra money and rent a cabin and shack on LOW or another hardworking Lodge on one of the many great walleye factory lakes in our great state. Bring some friends and family. Some will go fishing all weekend, some for just a little bit, but it'll be fun and the wife will get the fishing "fix" for the winter. I'm usually surrounded by trouble when I go ice fishing (20x a winter), dead batteries on the snowmobile, getting stuck pulling the wheelhouse, forgetting extra gas for the auger...my wife doesn't handle adversity very well and the best thing ever is if she gets a ride to a warm house from someone other than me. Then when something "weird" does happen, it's not YOUR fault!

Cripes, after reading some responses all I can think is there are some real wimpy people out there, guys and gals.

Iffin she wants to ice fish she'll go ice fishing. Iffin she wants a 4 star hotel room, that's where she's going.

Just go fishing. If others don't like it they will stay home.

My wife enjoys ice fishing as almost as much as me. We bow hunt pretty hard all fall and by the time there is ice were both ready to sit back and relax. I do fish differently than alot of others we move around a bit during early ice with the flip house. but when its wheel house time we pick our spot and thats were we fish. were really just there to relax enjoy each others company if we catch a fish great if not thats ok to.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
