Hwood
I heard Steve uses a corn based after shave. That is how he got close to those deer. Nice stuff guys.
Steve Foss
Here are some different looks. Many are from Gooseberry Falls, though only two are the typical toursity type of thing. Shot with the Canon 10-22, 100 macro, 200 f2.8L and 500 f4L, and various everything. Sorry Ken. I just started rolling again on the processing, even after thinking I was done. Steve Foss
Thanks for hanging in, everyone, and commenting. It's getting to be a marathon. Here's my last batch for the series. We spent a fair amount of time around Finland and Silver Bay in awe of the power of ice. Please excuse the 2008 copyright in one of the images. More than 1,000 images sorted and a guy tends to get a bit brain dead.
finnbay
And the last of mine as well. Hey, Steve! Thanks for a great trip! Had a ball shooting yesterday and posting today - though both have been long days! Take care, ol' buddy!

caseymcq
WOW! Those were some great shots. I especially liked the shots of all the ice covered trees. Steve- I saw you on just before Babbitt. I had just dropped the munchkin off at daycare and you were headed east. I was wondering what you were doing. I told myself you had to be going somewhere to take photos because you weren't headed in the direction of any lake trout waters
Steve Foss
You know, Casey, I saw you turning onto the highway and wondered if you'd be wondering where I was going. Of course, we DID end up at one of the best lake trout lakes anywhere in the world.

mmeyer
Now, Ken, that's no fun. With a little effort, we could have convinced Mike that it takes a special kind of woodscraft skill to approach wild animals so closely. With our close encounters (18 feet) with wolves and otters and these deer, we probably could have pulled it off. You're right, you probably could have. It must have been your fancy wool pants. You guys are amazing! Thanks for sharing your fun day!! I bow down before you both!
Birdsong
This has been really fun--the ice is amazing. Sad but amazing. I love the close up of the deer's face, but I still would love to see a close crop of his-her face including the left ear, with that perfect little upended snowflake. Nice job both of you. Yellowhead
I have a question. How do you go about working your way through 10Gb of images. Could you give a brief outline of your workflow. I get all jammed up if I have a hundred images to evaluate.
