Got out last night for the first time in a while. Got a 10.something pound channel cat. First channel ever other than I guess I got one when I was like 10 that went a couple pounds and I got some 10-14 inchers bullie fishing one day.

Bit on a live bullie, about 6-7 inches long. Dimensions 31x17. Pic later, late for work already smile.gif

Congrats on the channel! The biggest channels I have seen out of the Minnesota river have come on bullheads and usually get a couple of nice ones a season on them. The channel I have on the board came on a bullhead.

Was out last night as well. Fishing has been pretty slow the past few days due to the spawn but the lil dinks are still willing to bite. Got 3 flats 10lbs & under and one 22lber. The bite turned on about 3am-5am.

Oh boy, looking at the leaderboard gave me a dilema.

This fish is a 48 pointer, gonna be hard to upgrade it, need to go to at least 53 inches. That would be a hog! Wonder if I should hold off entering this one in hopes of get a 50 or 51 or something....I mean, 10.5 lbs isn't really all that huge, there's way bigger in there....

It looks like 53+ inchers are pretty hard to come by, and channels aren't exactly jumping in my boat as I target flats mostly. Seems like if I enter this, there's a 99% likelihood that it won't get upgraded. On the other hand, if I don't enter it, there's probably only what, maybe a 10% chance of getting one that goes 49-52 inches...

I think I'll enter it. If we lose by <5 points and at the end of the year I end up with a channel cat that went 52 inches that I couldn't upgrade, I'll live. What do you guys think?

I think the odds of losing by 4 or less are pretty slim though -- considering we're going to win. smile.gif

Nice, a 4 flattie night. You must have caught a hundred flatties this year, eh? Even a small flattie fights better than the biggest 'eye I've caught this year. Well, not the 17 inch flathead I got earlier in the year.

Seeing all of these small fish makes a guy excited, down the road they're going to be in the teens, and only going up from there!

Thats a solid channel cat for that river. Are there bigger? Yes. Are they caught very often? No.

My target goal for my biggest channel cat yet this year is going to be 35" long. Not sure what the girth on those sumos go but thats an 18-20lb Red River Cat.

What I'm saying is you have a 31" length and I can't possibly foresee catching a channel longer than 35"-36" this year. I've only caught a couple 36" in my life.

Ohhh... Here she is. smile.gif

Unless you plan on spending a couple days fishing the Red River yet this year, I would enter that one.

Yeah throw that channel up on the board! The 5 point upgrade thing on channels should maybe be lowered for next year. I am not really counting on being able to upgrade my channel but who knows? grin.gif

Maybe not a hundred but about 40 give or take a couple wouldnt be too far off. Seven of them have been over 20lbs. Lots and lots of fish under 10lbs.

Entered him in. It's nice to have that goose egg off the board.

Brian G, we need to get out someday -- are weekdays good for you or strictly weekends? Shoot me an email and let me know what your schedule is, we'll work out a trip.

guys, brian has decided to step aside as he felt it would be better for the team as his time might be limited the rest of the summer.

sorry to hear that Brian, thanks for communication!

This opens up a spot and I believe Lowblazah is up to bat. You still want in?

Hey LBZ, give me an email with your schedule -- i.e. if you have weekdays open, weekends, etc. I'm definitely available here and there and can't think going out alone would be a good thing considering we're getting our rear's kicked. We need points!

Silly question. You know it! Like I'm going to turn down another reason to be fishin. grin.gif

I'm out of town tomorrow for the weekend but return on Sunday. Would be game for late sunday night, or a couple weeknights this week.

Your boat or mine (isn't a lexus but she runs and floats) wink.gif

anyone want to go tonight? I have plans until 7pm but am available after that. My boat is missing a depth finder so would prefer not to take mine until I get that resolved. Could always shore fish too.

Call me if interested 952-210-2000...I wont be on the net anymore today.

Sat on the shore for a little while tonight...wasn't fishing too serious as I was teaching my 55 yr old neighbor the ins and outs of this extreme sport of catfishing. blush.giftongue.gif

Managed to hook a little guy though...24x14 figured I'd enter it to eliminate one of the zero's I'd have to make up for later. Dtro should have the pic. (incase he feels like posting it for me I would be much obliged) wink.gif

I might be up for a brief one on Fri. My boat is in the shop. I'm hitching a ride with one of our KOTC competetors tonight to see what kind of action is going on out there.

Drew Lets keep in touch.

Any of you guys getting in on Moores Contest this weekend? Andrude, time to pony up and put some money where your fish are.... You got a shot. Round up a partner show what you can do...

I don't want to hear that you got plans to go to the pond this weekend. wink.gif

Is it Friday or Saturday? Saturday I have plans with non-fishing-friends. I'm a hoser. Not going to the pond.

Well since you seem to make other plans on about every cat event thats been coming up this summer. Let me remind you that KOTC gathering is in a week and half.

Your presence is mandatory. grin.gif

I'm at that one for sure. Not sure if I'm taking the boat or gonna try to hitch a ride with someone, it'll depend on the water level mostly, and which launch we go out of BP or Jordan. If there's plenty of water I don't mind taking the boat up, can haul people/things with it if need-be.
