I did a search for ice fishing...somehow landed here. 2 years ago I registered, forgot what I did to register, so I created a new username and been here since. Lots of info, even if some of it might not be too useful.

Hey Lawdog

OMG, the day of Nonsense posts on the DNR/ATV forum was specifically one of the days I was thinking of.

Remember my topic of "Have you hugged your bunny today?"

I was in tears with the buddies at work when I hit submit on that story.

The popemobile ATV, the 75 ft snorkel, thanks for bringing them up. Oh man what a day on an internet forum that was.

LMAO

Deitz threatened me with "great bodily harm" if I did not join. But Deitz always threatens me smirk.gif

I researched the web for a good advertising venue and web hosting site. Rick quoted me a price that fit within our budget and off we went. Agape's bookings have increased by about 30% since then. I like to think it is because of my outstanding guiding skills and ability to always find fish. Not to mention extraordinary people skills, backed by selfless interests and the ability to spin whimsical tales enjoyed by all... my wife said it was because of a larger advertising budget crazy.gif

I just wish I would have thought to print out all those crazy threads that day to save them for posteriety. I didn't get boo done at work that day, but honestly I don't remember another day when I've laughed so much...

Well I'm ashamed to admit this but I got blanked... twice in a row out on the river... I was so distraught after the second time it was either find a way to catch fish or do bodily harm... so I found this site.... then I found a bunch of ahhh.... fisherman grin.gif.. from the upper miss forum... and with no help at all from BLB grin.gif I started catching fish again... between this and the other million hours I spend reading about fishing I have become a completely different fisherman than I was 3 years ago!.... ohhh and my wife hates these sites blush.gifgrin.gif

I found this site while browsing the Internet for fishing info. Then I happened to meet Rick, Dennis Steele (fishhead at the time), Jim W, Paul Waldowski (pwaldow at the time) and Tom Herman (gullguide at the time) at a sport show. Then it just took off from there smile.gif

Remember it like it was yesterday...

I was looking on a local site, and they had a "local fishing report" that linked to FM. I lurked for about a week before joining. Now, I always tell Hubby what the guys are saying in the NASCAR forum, as well as gleaning tips from the Bass forum. My almost 13 year old daughter likes to read stuff on here as well, so I appreciate the fact that I don't have to censor much. grin.gif

On memorable summer day I was looking for differient resorts and launches on Mile Lacs and came across the resort finder on this site. I started exploring and came across the fishing section. I lurked around for a month before the lure of the site mad me join.

One time, long ago, a very good friend of mine (Huskminn) used to rant and rave about this site. Then one fall he invited me to a get-together on Mille Lacs and fish a launch. I said I might show up on Friday night and fish the launch Saturday night depending on how grouse hunting was that day (it was the grouse opener). Anyway, I drive by the resort that infamous Friday night and see this big bon-fire. Well, I decide to pull in, not knowing anybody except Huskminn. Well, what a weekend! I thought I was on another planet with everybody calling each other by there handles and me not having one I felt out of place…. For like a minute. I don’t think most of those guys are still around this site anymore, but those guys were and you guys still are “good people”! Once I got back after that weekend I signed up and never looked back. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Many years ago (back in the late 90s),when I first gained access to the internet at work, I was a regular reader of a "walleye" HSOforum. As the years passed my fishing habits changed (I now spend 90% of my time fishing smallies on the Mississppi) so I started looking for a site that covered more than just "sandsharks and sandshark tournaments". tongue.gifgrin.gif And here I am. I'm not a frequent poster, but you'll see me on the Mississippi River North forum occassionally.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
