Kylersk
They asked if Crappie fishing should be shut down during the spawning periods. I had no clue, so I said 'no opinion'. What are your thoughts on the topic?
Dan Brelje
I have never fished crappies in the summer months. I have heard that it can be a blast if you find some when they are spawning; the only thing is, it makes it so easy and i would almost feel bad catching them. It reminds me of the times me and my sister would drop a hook with a worm infront of the spawners right off the dock, Dad never liked it when we did that. Now i know where i might get it from. The Grebe
When I picked up mine, they asked me if I caught any LM or SM bass last season and if I kept any?
Dan Thiem
No questions when I got mine, so I wonder if different counties have different surveys.
tonyjor
They asked me if I support a four bag limit on walleyes. I didn't quite get it. Does it mean we can have up to 4 limits in possession at a time? Or does it mean we can only have one limit of 4 walleye?
Mike89
I to was asked about crappies. I said "what?" but then said why this question when there has been no problem with this fish? Maybe it's just me!!
Chad711
They asked me if I fished after the Walleye season ends. Uhhh, YEAH!

ChuckN
I bought my license and wasn't asked anything with crappies...there was a question about if I was in favor of lowered limits to improve the fishing?? Something like that. Absolutely. I am curious what the seasons would be for crappies/panfish?? It's really hard to predict with the weather, IMO. I've seen panfish on beds in late April til late June.
92python
I was asked the question about fishing for crappies during the spawn as well. For a second I wondered if the DNR could somehow find a formula to close the season on crappies in the whole state of MN from Iowa to Canada based on water temp / time of the year / angle of the sun / phase of the moon / miscellaneous other factors that might determine crappie spawning time...I decided it was too complex and answered no. Pig_sticka
If they close crappies and sunnies down what do we fish for then? suckers n carp?Just be able to fish for like one species every month that it is hard to catch them lol.Soon the limits are going to keep falling and we are only going to be able to keep 1 fish per species per day, that is terrible. All it takes is just conservation and everything will be just fine.

Ice9
By accident I cycled through the HSOforum license purchase process twice, got two different questions. They must scatter the questions and rotate them to get their survey. YOu had to answer one way or the other to proceed.Suggested questions for next year's survey:Should DNR CO's be required to give a lollipop to every citizen they check who has no violations?Did you launch your boat last year and forget to put the drain plug in?Ice
The_Duckslayer
Quote: Did you launch your boat last year and forget to put the drain plug in? Ice Umm nope. I did launch the boat one time knowing that my dad had the teather rope in his hand. Surprise, surprise when I got there and discovered that the boat was floating away from me. Go figure, the wind was blowing it "out out to sea". This was a duck hunting day so the water was to cold to go after it. Had to drive back home, get the little duck boat and then go back and paddle around the lake untill I found the big boat. Man it was very very foggy that day as well. What an erie feeling being out there not able to see anything and trying to find my boat. I was praying that I did remember to put the plug in though! bigbucks
Quote:Did you launch your boat last year and forget to put the drain plug in?No, it's been close to 20 years since I did that the "last" time. Unfortunately that time was not the "only" time.
bigbucks
I got this question also, I thought why too. I also thought, why not publish these questions somewhere ahead of time, so you have more than two seconds to think about your response? I thought to myself, you know I like to fish crappies in the spring, they're a prolific reproducer, they just dropped the limits, No.

metrojoe
I was only asked the typical HIP Certification questions. I think thats a great way to get a general idea of how the "users" feel about a topic or issue. Thier first answer is usually the best. Plus the DNR can avoid the "yes, if" and "No, but" answers. Which more often than not boggs down the subject until everyone has forgotten what the original question was. I would have been one of those "yes, if" people. bassman186
When I got mine they asked me if I ice fished last year after walleye closed. I'm thinking ah what? But after thinking for a sec. I said yes I had.Is this questionaire thing new? Never been asked that before and I have purchased my license from the same place for the past 3 years. ~Matt Jung
KatoMike
They asked me if I had specifically fished for walleye after dark. They also asked a bunch of duck/goose hunting questions as I was buying my hunting license as well. Question they should ask: Does your wife ever actually fish? (I am sure the State makes plenty off of us guys who always buy the combination sportsman license but whose wive's never ending up fishing. )
