First Ice

Right about this time of year, somebody usually starts a post about being able to icefish soon.

And that usually ushers in 68 degree weather within a week or so.

 

But it is actually looking good to be icefishing on Thanksging up north this year!!!

I've got close to 2" on my little lake here would think by this weekend.  But I am no longer young....or crazy.

I just came through the narrows on Leech on HWY 200 and the water was causing fog! It was pretty cool to see and there was some ice forming by the shores. Lake Bemidji looked to be starting to ice up tonight too. -9 according at 12:30 am when I was in town.

I never thought about that! That's really not a bad idea as long as the tires had some sort of studs in them. I hope he was wearing a helmet.

I've thought about that too. My winter bike has studded tires. Was the attachment rigid?

I have heard he is in the DL area pretty frequently so it could've been him. I heard his brother that put his ATV through late ice last year on a lake east of DL.

Upper Red Lake on November 26. Good day of fishing.  Had a chance to try out the helix 7 conversion. Works great with the new update.
