Andrew Erickson
I'll be watching. Heard on the radio it was filmed in Bemidji
eyeguy 54
ya sure, it's a good one.
Bobby Bass
Always liked Billy Bob, he brings his quirkiness to the little screen and makes this worth watching. FX just seems to find a little niche of some special dark little places to go. Even has a few scenes shot in Duluth down by the grain elevators. leechlake
I accidentally tuned in last night. My thoughts were it was the basic plot of the movie, acting quality was about the same as the movie. I assume the tv show will morph into more. Also, and I'm no choir boy, but I didn't know FX would show the sex scene they showed from the strip club when Thornton's character killed the bully guy. Wife was sleeping next to me and I thought she was going to wake up and accuse me of watching dirty movies. LOL.
BartmanMN
I thought it was good show last night. I'll watch the next one.
SkunkedAgain
I stumbled onto it right at the start - hadn't been planning to watch. The caricaturization of Minnesotans was pretty over the top, just like the movie, but also like the movie they find a way to brush past that with the dark and serious side of the plot. Yeah, the sex scene was surprising but also was how much violence they showed. I don't watch much besides sports so was surprised to see gunshot, stabbing, and hammer scenes with blood.Too bad I'm pulling the plug on DirecTV this weekend. It would have been a neat series to watch.

fishin58
It was pretty slow I thought, but I think they they were laying the plot out PRETTY thick! The thing that made me mad was the first 5 seconds....this is a true story...then they say it happened in 2006!!! WTH ??
delcecchi
The "true story" thing was an homage to the movie. I will wait and watch it streaming so the disgusting commercials will be gone. Seemed to me to be about half commercials, mostly for horror type shows and movies. Maybe on DVR it would have been ok. Also didn't think too much of the female cop character. Way dumber than the movie one.
eyeguy 54
lol, I like her. She will be good in the long run I bet.
delcecchi
I will give it a chance, later. But the 10 minutes of show, 3 or 4 minutes of commercials for horror movies was pretty off putting.SOA was probably the same thing, but I am watching that on netflix. PurpleFloyd
Most shows are like that with the commercials so I set the ones that I like to watch like Justified to record on the DVR and then I can watch them when I want and just FF through the commercials. pinkfloyd4ever
Loved it, seems like I am in the minority. Looking forward to the whole series. Plus has 1-800-call-Saul in it along with Billy Bob.
SkunkedAgain
Also didn't think too much of the female cop characterWith the "you're gonna be chief someday" conversation and then the chief getting killed, they were certainly setting her bar low initially so that she really grows up into her role as top cop. CaptainMusky
I found last nights episode much better than the first. This is getting quite interesting. Billy Bob is awesome in it IMO.
SkunkedAgain
Agreed. Some of it gets a little cheesy and I get bored with it momentarily, and then Billy Bob elevates the whole thing with his performances. It's like he's channeling Bad Santa and SlingBlade to make the perfect unfeeling, dark character.
CaptainMusky
The scene in the Post Office was hilarious last night. Not knee slapping funny, but just his mannerisms, etc. Cracked me the heck up.The Bad Santa reference is spot on.He is the perfect person for this role. eyeguy 54
I am easily entertained. Me likey. highly irregular is the time I found a human foot in the toaster oven.... lol
CANOPY SAM
I'm sorry, but this thing is flat as a pancake. One can clearly see the attempt to capture the character of the movie, but it just doesn't stamp onto the TV venue. The characters in the movie were somehow compelling. This application is painfully slow and drab. I'd wager they'll be hard pressed to make it past one season.Billy Bob Thornton is the only redeeming character in this series. He's always been a good actor. Still think SlingBlade may have been one of the best movies ever made.

Ufatz
Finding the foot in the toaster oven blew me right out of my chair!! muskiemanAD
I love it so far. Got my wife to watch it, she likes it but a little gruesome and over the top for her...
BartmanMN
Why does the "view discretion advised" message on this show need to be so dang loud. It's jacked way up over the normal volume of the show. I always expect my wife to yell down from our room to turn it down. Anyone else noticed this?
