Vikings Stadium Design & Construction

Is your last name Wilf? You must sweat purple kool aid. Skol Wintergreen!

Anyway the upside in revenue potential is much greater in Atlanta with Super Bowls, Final Fours, seat licensing, and a myriad of other potential events and that makes it more worth while for the owners to pony or phoney up a bit more. But make no mistake the owners are NOT paying 1 penny out of their pocket's or family's wealth, so get that out of your heads.

The Atlanta Falcon's will recoup those monies much faster than then the Vikings ever will.

GO VIKES!!!! grin

That's weird Atlanta's current stadium can't even be old enough to drink beer can it? It certainty isn't 20 years old. And they are going to just implode it!

Article shows it would be 21 years old now and 25 years old when demo'd... opened in 1992.

It's also funny to read the jealous packer fans on here always putting it down. This venue makes Lambeau look like the toilet it truly is.

I've never gone to Lambeau for a stadium 'experience'. I would pick a different venue to experience drinking and eating than an overpriced sporting event... I go once a year to watch the Packers... and I believe the toilet known as Lambeau is still better than the toilet known as the Humpty Dome. The Vikes may have State of the art coming and a destination for all those who want to go to a fancy stadium first and foremost... that's fine. I'd rather go to watch a game....

But in the end give me my living room for most games and I am happiest!

Good Luck!

Ken

No, but if I were or if I hit the lottery I'd by you and DTRO the baddest River Pro "jet boat" Eva~~~ smile

Well that's awful nice of you- but I have an 18' jet boat right now that works just fine. I didn't order a River Pro because I don't like rebuilding boat motors every few years or swimming underneath them every time they clog up. Although mine doesn't do 45mph but I'm not into racing yet. ;-)

Now what's this have to do with this vikings stadium design/debacle that will be an eye sore for years to come that we can't afford?

Let me toss my .002 in here.

Did the Vikings need a new stadium, no. Will this new stadium help them out to compete, and to draw in better players, and more fans, without a doubt. Will it win them a Super Bowl, No.

I would rather see them get the new stadium, then to leave. But the public portion was rather high, and not planned well on where the money was going to come from. It will be figured out in the end, without the average tax payer taking a "big" hit, but better planning should have been done in the first place. Like I said in the beginning, the Vikings should have been responsible for building the topless stadium, with the city, and state paying for the infrastructure, and to put a top on it, so it can be used for other events. I would think that would have been about a 600-400 split, with the city, county, and state sharing the 400 million, the Vikes responsible for the 600 million

I hope the city of MLPS decides to use the new stadium to make some money, with bringing in more concerts, and other events.

There were good plans for paying for the stadium that the majority of the public was in favor of...it was called the "Racino".

Too bad our corrupt government officials will never pass any legislation like this for fear of losing the Indians deep pockets to fund their next fraudulent campaign.

The Wilfs didn't screw anybody over...your own goverment did.

Can't argue against that!! If the governement officials were so busy trying to keep the tribes happy and kissing their arses, it would have been pushed through easily.

as soon as people grow tired of fantasy football, the nfl is gonna sink... fast.

Not that I personally buy into your theory but what you are saying esentially is there is NO chance what-so-ever the NFL is going to sink fast.

Kind of a side issue, but has anyone noticed how BIG that stadium is? I mean honestly, it's HUGE!

I'm really curious how they plan to deal with the weight of a heavy snow? It can't be allowed to "slide" off. You'd be talking about several hundred thousand square feet of snow being shunted to one side. Keep in mind what the snow piles look like on the side of a big box store parking lot after a heavy snow fall. Now multiply that by 3? 4? 5??? times?

The watershed alone will be astounding. Massive impermeable surface! I like the design. Especially the interior!

Gotta agree with JW on that. The MOST popular sport in the United States, and many other countries, isn't going to go away just because of a couple added rules to protect the players.

The NFL rocks! It'll NEVER die! cool

Well it is a concern. I did work in an all glass 8 story office building and would see dead birds below my window on the roof of a lower structure nearly every morning. Birds see their reflection in the windows and end up in their demise all the time. I have a feeling this stadium design will be really bad. With the Fall games timed to the bird migration, the stadium staff will need to take snow shovels to clean up all the dead birds before the fans arrive.

They will have to light the structure at night so that birds are aware of its presence...using solar power, of course.

whistlesmirkcrazy

Before you laugh at that, there was a bill in the legislature a few years ago carried by a dingbat DFL'r which would require certain structures be properly lit so birds wouldn't crash into them, minus the solar requirement. Only in MN.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
