  1. The pork belly burnt ends look great! Has anyone tried this with beef brisket? I have used receipts in the past where you smoke the entire roast until at least 160, then pull it from the grill and cube like rundrave did with the PB. Couldn't you just cube the brisket and smoke in a pan? Just wondering if anyone has tried it, otherwise I may experiment this weekend.
  2. Are the Timberwolves the Cleveland Browns of the NBA?
  3. At home I use a snowblower, but at the lake I am using a snowblower and an ATV plow. Next year I am going to what PurpleFloyd has. My driveway is about 250 yards long. Still have to clean in front of garage, additional parking spots, access to propane tank, walkway around the house, to outbuildings, etc. It gets to be a lot and the ATV deal is not fun. I use front and back chains, but I still have problems pushing the snow good enough. I am using a 2018 550 Sportsman with an Eagle frame mounted plow. Frame mount is better if you are doing a large area. Not a big deal on years when the snow isn't deep, but this year and last have pushed me over the edge. Now I have an excuse to buy a bigger John Deere. I looked at side by side options as well, but I think either a full size plow or large snow thrower option are best.
  4. Have I watched it? That's a hard no. But Huntnfish throwing out suggestions for us to watch is what I appreciate about him. Maybe with the cold weather this weekend I could start binging it. Pitter patter, let's get at er!
  5. BF Goodrich KO2's. I have been running the KO's for years now and won't switch until something better comes along. I drove the last three pickups I ordered straight from the dealership to the tire shop. Had the stock tires removed and KO's put on. This is the first vehicle with the KO2's and I really like them so far. Have about 30K on them with no issues. They are great in winter, excellent traction on the boat ramps and almost no squat when towing. I went to these tires because the stock tires on a past truck pulled terrible. They are E1 load rated, but still drive nice down the road when not towing.
  6. I am enjoying this season as well. When I was a kid in 1983, a few buddies and I went to the Gopher-Nebraska game at the dome. That was an all time low point for the program. Hope we never return to those days. No Joe Blow Car Rental Bowl this year! It's also going to be fun in the future watching some of our players in the NFL. Like seeing Maroney and Barber play after they left the U.
  7. I have a food plot that is so productive every year that we call it the Meat Field.
  8. Check out Brother's Meats in Maple Grove. Might be a little bit off your path home, but they do a great job. I have been going there for the past few years and everything has been good. Processed my own deer for twenty five years. I am done with that. They give you your own cuts of meat back, which was important to me, and their polish and sticks are excellent.

    Vikings 2019

Agreed that Cousins messed up. Throwing off your back foot almost fifteen yards behind the line of scrimmage? However, Stefanski should have never called that play. Cook is having a career day and Cousins could get strip sacked by a kid in Pop Warner. The Vikings were in four down territory with just over five minutes left and the Packers only have one timeout. You run it three times and if you don't score, throw it on fourth down. If they score, they could have run a couple minutes off the clock and put Green Bay in a tough spot to march down the field managing the clock. Bradbury looks like he is not quite ready to play in the NFL. Maybe needs a little time. When Elflein is healthy again, I wouldn't mind seeing Dozier stay in at LG and have Elflein play center. Not a huge upgrade, but better.
  10. If I can get that close to them, they are getting the spade shovel.
  11. All good points. I have heard that they like to eat mice. Not sure why I was able to trap over 35 voles this year then.
  12. Our neighborhood in the metro is seeing a lot more snakes this year. They are in the rocks next to my front patio and the wife won't go out there any more. Does anyone know of a way to kill garter snakes? I have been looking for poisons, but can't find anything and they have been too quick for me to get with a shovel. I saw snake repellents, however I would rather just kill them. Any help is appreciated.
  13. You have to drop cable and go to internet only to make a difference. I got a two year lock on internet (150 mbs) for $39.99. It was a few months ago when Xfinity was rolling out their streaming option. I technically have their streaming, but I don't like it so I use Roku to stream Hulu Live. Internet only was $49.99. I had the same thing when I asked to drop the land line. It was more expensive. We built our house three years ago and I only had three phone jacks installed, but never hooked up a phone. We had a phone number and service, but never used it. Every once and a while a pop up would show on the TV that someone was calling. I guess solicitors can get your number even when you have never used the line or given away your number.
  14. Previously I had Comcast triple play. Phone, internet and cable. Went to just internet, the pro performance package.
  15. Well Comcast seemed to have fixed the issue. I am now getting 50 - 60 mbs wireless and over 100 wired directly to the router. The Comcast guy hooked up directly to the router and showed that was running fine. He ended up cutting all coax connectors and replacing them inside and out. Not sure what else he did in the box outside the house, but he was out there for 20 minutes. All of the TVs work great except one of the Roku Stick+. I will try to reboot that tonight as previously mentioned. To stay on thread and not continue discussing my mechanical issues, I am really happy we cut the cord. Out Comcast bill was $186 a month. We are now well south of $100 a month with HBO, which we did not previously have. I am really impressed with Hulu live. We only have a handful of channels we watch and having the favorites makes navigating my channels really easy. Also, channel lineup in alphabetical order is genius. My two year agreement with Dish and Hughesnet at the lake is up in September. Last fall TDS ran internet cabling down my road so I will be switching my cabin internet and changing TVs to Roku/Hulu live as well.
  16. I do not have a Chromecast. I will try the Comcast fix first then work my way to the hardware. I have two roku streaming stick + and one roku streaming stick.
  17. Well, after two and a half hours on the phone with Netgear and Comcast I have no resolution. Comcast is coming out to the house on Wednesday to see what the problem is. I am on the 150 mbs plan and I still only get around 30 on a speed test. Even when I wire directly to the router the performance is the same. I may upgrade to the Roku Ultra as well.
  18. A few months ago we decided to cut the cord. We kept our Xfinity internet and transitioned to Roku with Hulu live. We also have Prime and Netflix. So far everything has been good and haven't missed cable at all. The only issue we have is that at times our screen will freeze or flicker. I am using the Roku Stick+ and the two main televisions we watch are within 50 feet of our router on the same level of the house (rambler). I ran the speed test on my internet a few times and it fluctuates between DL 22.43/UL 4.03 to DL 32.62/UL 5.11. I recently purchased a new Netgear AC 1900 wireless router, so that should be fine. I went to Best Buy to ask some questions on how to improve performance and they said I should buy the Google wifi mesh router. It was pretty expensive, so I thought I would ask this group if anyone had a similar situation and what they did. Any help is much appreciated.
  19. What internal temp did you smoke it to before searing? Also, what temp did you set the grill? I usually do 275 and get the internal temp of the meat to 115 and then sear. Some guys use a lower smoke temp to start for more smoke flavor, but I have never done it that way. That looks great!
  20. Just wanted to close out this post. It was the light switch in the bed that was causing the lights to turn on and off. Problem fixed.
  21. Mine cooks fairly even. Trick is to let it heat up for about 20+ minutes before using. Wondering if anyone has used one of these to clean their griddle. I saw a guy in our cafeteria cleaning the flat top with this thing and I asked him what it was. He said they are the trick to keeping their commercial griddles clean.
  22. I actually bought this carbon steel griddle from Lodge last fall and prefer it. Use it on both the stove top and the grill. The Blackstone will be retired and given to a friend who wants it.
  23. I have the same portable griddle at home and prefer it over the standalone at the lake. The best thing we make on the griddle is blackened fish tacos. It makes a mess and a lot of smoke, so being outdoors is a plus. Breakfast is decent and the fried rice, habachi style, is good. If you are a fan of real coney dogs like the Gopher Bar, then this will help you get close to the same flavor. Have to griddle the dogs a little crisp and toast the buns with butter.
  24. Agreed. Seems like Kepler is more of a 5-7 slot hitter. If Buxton could live up to the hype, having him lead off would be great with the rest of this lineup. Ricky Henderson like. Little bit of power and a lot of speed.
