I am not apologizing to the antis one bit but there's a huge difference between the implications of a statement like, "Go get 'em boys!" and "Good luck hunting." If you all can't see that difference then I am glad that I am coming to an age where I haven't too many seasons left to worry about it. You all whine about the antis but you have no problem feeding their hate and discontent. With an arrogant cocky attitude like that good luck keeping our hunting and trapping traditions alive in the future.

go get em is just a way of saying good luck. antis brains are wired different, you say good luck hunting and a lot of them are celebrating if a fellow hunter falls out of a tree and dies. sheesh! don't be afraid of saying something that will offend the antis... we hunters don't need to rag on each other so much. that is something they enjoy.

Not seeing a big difference here, why do the anti's have you so worried about a simple statment? They are going to hate us no matter what, calling a fellow hunter arrogant and cocky over something like "go get em boys" just seems out of place on a hunting/fishing HSOforum. eek

I would urge people to not worry so much about what the anti's are flustered about, or what they are saying. We all know extremists will say and use just about anything as ammo whether its legit or not. Yes, lets be grounded, concrete, and steady in protecting our rights to hunt and own firearms, but let's not spend so much energy feeding into minimal issues like this. Sometimes it's perfectly fine, and not disadvantageous to just ignore.

If we can't say "go get em boys" because of the anti's, whats next, a secret handshake? Sorry, nothing wrong with that statement. We say it all the time in society and hunting. That saying has been around for a long time. We better never use the word kill or shot on this site anymore either, it better be harvest and harvest only, its softer for the anti's. The anti's hate hunting no matter what terminology we use.

You worry too much and give the Anti's far too much concern and time. Anti's are going to be anti's whether "we" tell someone good luck, nice kill photo, or stay dead silent.

Anti's will hate and B&M until all hunting is stopped. Then they'll start B&Ming until it is illegal for cars to hit and kill animals on roadways. After that, they'll B&M until science finds a way to keep all animals from ever dying. Finally, they'll B&M at G - O - D that the earth's ecosystem completely crumbled because the circle of life was interrupted.

I hope you're right. As for me, my time on this earth isn't long enough to be too concerned about your future hunting privileges. By the time anything changes enough to affect me I'm not likely to be around anymore anyway.

Don't worry Bob we will be ok. Its all about numbers and money and we have far far more than the anti's. Sure peta has like a 30 milion budget, maybe all combined the anit's can come up with 100 milion in any give year. Hunters pump 24 Billion into the economy every single year, we aren't going anywhere.

A good read here for anyone interested.

I will admit that I was a bit harsh with my statements but my concern is our image. You are all correct that the "anti" hunting crowd is not likely to be influenced much either way but there are plenty on the edge that can be. We have had arguments in the past with regard to how we display our kill, how we act while on the hunt, the level of respect we show for the the animal, and the level of respect we show for our prize. When we come across as uncaring, even if only a little, we can easily push those along the fringes to the other side. I just think a little couth can go a long way despite my lack thereof.

I couldn't agree more! I am on the edge, I use to hunt a little and I always thought it was a decent sport... but just from some of the stuff I have seen written on this HSOforum from hunters and stories of hunters, I have been extremely turned off from the sport. I am not going to turn into an anti, but you guys can do a lot more damage to your sport than you realize.

Wow didnt relize my simple way of saying go get em, would cause a ruckiss... So I guess to be politically correct and anti friendly I should have said "Happy Hunting boys"........ But then again I am not one to worry about how the anti's perceive my statements.... So once again Go Get Em Boys!!! the target number is 200, hopefully we can get close but I don't expect it much more than maybe a 100. Wolves are now a huntable species, just like deer, and go get em boys is a common saying in the deer hunting community why should wolves be any different.

What is coming to when we want to say something to another person/people and then we are repeatedly reminded of how we may offed someone else. Do you think that the first settlers worried of this? Answer: Yes, but they did it anyways that is why we have the freedoms we have today.

No matter what is said someone down the line is going to be offended and I'm not saying we should deliberately offend somebody. But its time everyone just needs to but on big boy pants and live with what is going on. Sorry if I offended the ladies out there buy saying big boy pants. grin

BTW skeeter I see nothing wrong with that statement, its used in bunch of different ways in water fowling its "Take em boys"

If you want to be turned off you should browse some anti hunting sites, they will make this place sound like kindergarten class. I couldn't find a link but its pretty common to see them celebrate hunting accidents or send out death threats.

Understood but should we then stoop to their level? Where's the "big boy pants" in that? I'm not trying to be disrespectful or condescending to anyone. I'm just trying to point out that we can rise above them, do things with a little more maturity, and present a better image that can benefit us in the long run.

You all might label it as politically correct. I label it mature and adult.

My question to you BobT is where do you draw the line? I think that "go get em boys" is very toned down compared to some of the tv show lines, t-shirts, and bumper stickers that I see. We should not need to hide from what we do. It is not an evil dirty little secret. I understand where you are coming from, truly I do. I think certain things should be handled maturely and with some sensitivity to those that don't share our same views. However, at some point, one has to say enough is enough. We can't hide in the closet because we hunt. There is a point where we cross the line. There is grey areas on either side of the line. You choose to stay away from the line, some choose to be in the grey, others definitely cross the line. Lets take on those that tend to cross the line instead of those that live in the grey area.
