amateurfishing
will probably depend on material you want it made of and if you want custom or out of a box. u can get em out of a box at any sporting goods retailer like wallys, FF, etc
chris63
Been there done the "out of the box"will never buy from a store again. The only way to go is custom made with UV rated fabric and double stress points so the cover will last.c63
ClownColor
Even though you've made up your mind on custom...Cabelas Ratchet lok are the next best thing and they're usually super cheap when on sale (like right now on select models).
chris63
My current cover is almost twenty years old and though I haven't found a quality cover out of the box it's possible the c brand is ok.c63
highlife4me
I bought a Cabela's ratchet lock last year and it made it 11 months. Seven of those months it was stored in a heated shed. Ripped a big hole in the middle alongside one of my boat seats. No sharp edges either. Cabela's replaced it no questions asked. I will see how long this one lasts. goose89
North country canvas in Crystal/Robbinsdale area. He does very nice work. +1. I've had 3 from Dave at North Country. Prior two help sell the boats they were on...Got $$ I was looking for on both rigs......both parties were impressed with interior condition and covers as well. dan z
Mankato tent and awnings make really really nice custom covers. Bring you and your wife's account though. Dad has one on his boat. Very well built and its been outside for 10 yrs and some. No rips or tears yet.
harvey lee
No idea who made mine but I purchased it when I bought the last boat new 8 years ago.Cover still looks like new, no holes and snaps on tight every time. I paid $700 for the cover but it was money well spent and I love the snap cover instead of all the tie downs. The boat before the one I have now I went with a $150 cover and all I can say is that it was worth maybe less than that. Tore easy, rotted a bit and it was simply a cheap cover.Spend what you can on a cover and I am sure you will be glad you did. Just like about any other product, one gets what one pays for. Tracker55
Anyone ever had one made by Canvas Craft? I've been thinking about it but don't know if they make a quality product.
chris63
Yes....the one I currently own is a cc and is almost twenty years old.It has been USED and ABUSED.I did find some other manufacturers but not impressed. Not to say they aren't good.c63
bturck
G&B Canvas in Sauk Rapids does great work. Mine is 12 years old and only one seam issue where it pulls over the rear corner. Took it back to them and they took care of it no issue at all. Also had new zippers put on my Clam Voyegeur a few years ago and the double door zippers inside and out for $52.00. they have my business.
Black_Bay
Lakes Area Canvas in Chisago City does good work. I had a bimini top/dodger set up and a snap cover made. Both fit great and are easy to put on.

leech~~
Where about's are you? There are a few up around Brainard and one by Little Falls. Also, I had one made at CC about 15 years ago and it to is getting down there. One thing I did two years ago to extend the life of it which I learned from another guy. Get a plastic autobody bondo spreader and a few tubes of clear silicon. Shoot out lines of silicon and rub it in very, very thinly back and forth in different directions to work it in to the threads. It's like almost adding back the rubber that has worn off. It is some work, but mine looks like it will hang in there a few more years now! Mistermojo
I have had a couple of Cabela's covers and I am not going to get a 3rd when this one bites the dust. It does have a 7 year warranty which I might need to take advantage of as mine is starting to rot after year 2. Plus the plastic hardware does not hold up. - Broken Buckles are starting to happen. NBR
The best is a custom cover but pricey. I bought a semicustom made for my boat model after searching the net. I has been very good. I can't remember the companies name but I think it was in South Carolina. If you are going to keep the boat covered while trailering be sure to get a trailerable cover or it won't last much more than 1 trip - maybe less! chris63
Hello, just got my boat back with the new cover from Canvas Craft in rogers. As stated above Custom Covers are very spendy.I remember the year I purchased my cover from Canvas Craft was 1994.I basically had the same cover made again except for ties in the rear instead of the front, the motor cover is a bit different.Anybody that is contemplating buying a boat cover, spend the extra money purchasing it at a custom cover shop. You will not be disapointed.
Ballyhoo
One custom cover is less expensive than 2 cheap ones and will last longer. I have had my last 2 tops done by Waterside Canvas up in Baudette. They fit well and are practical. He understands the meaning of custom and does the little things to make them function better. Do you trailer the boat with the cover on? I just finished up my first season with the rachet lock cover and it still looks like new. I take it off before I trailer the boat though....
