auger oil

I am looking to hear some input on running Amsoil Saber oil at 100:1 in an auger. Strikemaster recommends a 40:1 or 50:1 mixture. Will there be any problems running at such a lean mixture if it is synthetic?

Also, do any retail stores in the Forest Lake area sell Amsoil Saber?

I had always had issues with my strikemaster auger. Ieven replaced the carb at one time. I was ready to sell it when i decided to run saber through it. What a new auger. it starts better, runs better. I still have it three years later. I run 100to 1. I also run 100 to 1 in my snowblowers, lawn tools, daughters weedwip scooter, etc. I would recomend it to anyone. I have never had issues with it!!

I switched to amsoil saber last year for my strikemaster Lazer.

100:1

Loved it. Cut down on smoke and my auger idled much better between cutting holes and started easier.

Sabe Pro works in any small air cooled engine, augers no mater the brand, chainsaws, weed eaters, snow throwers ect, I run at 80:1 with my mix.

I have been having good results with the stihl synthetic I run in my saws with my auger starts and runs a lot better.

Bought a new strikemaster last winter. Broke it in at 50:1 now going with 80:1 runs great! Amsoil.

I have been running Amsoil Saber in my old strikemaster for the last three winters. It runs so much cleaner and smoother. Starts easier, idles like new (which it did not before using) and does not put a blue cloud of smoke out. Liked it so much started to run it in my Sthil chain saw. Saw runs better also and does not emit heat like it use to. Love the stuff. BC

I've been using saber oil 100;1 for years. No problems or black junk out of the muffler either.

I would obviously like a smoother running motor but don't want to burn it up with too little oil, what makes the Amsoil able to run at half(twice?) the ratio?

the Amsoil is a full synthetic oil and because of its chemical makeup you can run it at a leaner mixture. this is my second winter with running it in my 20 year old strikemaster mag III plus. I run it anywheres between 80 to 1 & 100 to 1. the original suggested mix for my auger was 25 to 1 but now that I have made the switch the auger seems to run better with the saber at the leaner mixture. the only place it could be a issue is if you need warranty service. the lean mixture could possibly void your warranty.

been running amsoil at 100-1 in my concrete saws for the last 15 years and have not had a engine fail yet and they are sometimes run wide open for over an hour at a time , good stuff

I read these crazy oil posts for two years before I tried Amzoil at 100/1. Wish I would have been a faster learner. Great stuff!!

Got to good of a deal to pass up on it, otherwise I was going to go with Strikemaster. My old shark lasted almost 15 years without any problems....

yep amsoil for oil. As for gas it is best to use non oxygenated gas in whatever octane you can find. It is typically in 91 or higher.

My understanding of gas is if you use it often (like your vehicle) 87 is perfered unless it calls for a higher octane. Most people run non-oxy in there 2 cycle motors cause they sit longer. Unfortunatly most of the time you have to purchase premium gas to get the non-oxy fuel. I just read a non-oxy myth that states it breaks down just as quickly as regular gas...nut the one thing that is important, is the non-oxy gas is better on seals and some tubing.

Alot of people run 87 and never have problems, just stabilize it if sitting for a while. I prefer non-oxy as I don't use mine nearly as much (as I should) and it sits for awhile and its just extra insurance...I probably use 1 gallon all year, but it will have seafoam added.

Back to the OP questions (with a question) has any tried "tall timber" oil? Mills carries it for cheap(er) and its a smokelss synthetic as well.

I'd run a tank of Sabre 50:1 through first...if it's a new motor. I ran 50:1 all last season, new motor, and will be stepping it up to 100:1 a bit later this season.

Jarrid I always run premium gas in all my augers, lawn mower, weed wackers etc. with the Amsoil Saber in it. Let me know if ya need some I have a case of pillow pouches.

now here is a question, which is better the amsoil or the opti2. i did switch to the opti2 at 100:1 and my older stikemaster mag 3 ran good on it at first, then i hard a hard time getting it going when the temps dropped. now i had cleaned the carb out good and put the 40:1 in it and she is running again. i dont know if anything had gotten in the carb from somewhere but she is running good again. should i try the opti2 again or get some amsoil saber pro
