He was the source of a lot of entertainment for MN over the years:

Harmon Killebrew:

"It is with profound sadness that I share with you that my continued battle with esophageal cancer is coming to an end. With the continued love and support of my wife, Nita, I have exhausted all options with respect to controlling this awful disease. My illness has progressed beyond my doctors' expectation of cure.

I have spent the past decade of my life promoting hospice care and educating people on its benefits. I am very comfortable taking this next step and experiencing the compassionate care that hospice provides.

I am comforted by the fact that I am surrounded by my family and friends. I thank you for the outpouring of concern, prayers and encouragement that you have shown me. I look forward to spending my final days in comfort and peace with Nita by my side."

I remember when I was a kid my Dad and I would often watch the Twins on TV or at the Met. Every time, and I mean EVERY time, Harmon would come up my Dad would say "Lose one Harmon" and he often did. I miss my Dad and I'll miss Harmon. Those really were the good old days.

I always use one of his quotes when I get jabbed about our grass/weeds in our yard:

“My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, "You're tearing up the grass"; "We're not raising grass," Dad would reply. "We're raising boys";”

I remember how special it was to me to be able to go the old Met on "Harmon Killebrew Day" and watch him ride around the perimeter in a golf cart, smiling and waving to all the fans. Truly a great man, on and off the field.

Never met the man, but knew someone who did. I used to work at a grocery store in Pelican Rapids. We delivered to a few elderly people, one of which was an 80 something year old guy. He had a mentally handicapped son that lived with him. One day our conversation turned to baseball and when he found out I loved the game, he called his son into the living room. He told the son, now in his late 50's, that one of my favorite players was Harmon Killebrew. The son's face lit up and the father told him to show me what he had. The son went over to a modest kitchen hutch and pulled a baseball with Harmon's autograph and he was simply beaming as he brought it over to me. The father explained that he had lived in Washington DC for several years and took his son to a baseball game. Harmon came over and visited with them for a while. Before he left, he offered the son an autographed baseball and wished them well. All those years later, the son still gushed when he talked about his hero, the friendly baseball player Harmon Killebrew. Harmon's time on this earth is finished. He made the most of his life. I have a feeling that, along with Harmon's friends and family that have gone before him, there will be a fan from long ago welcoming him to his new home. God be with you Harmon.

RIP Killer!!! you are in a better place and will never be forgotten.

It's only fitting that a total of 3 runs total were scored in tonights game, along with 3 hits for the Twins and 3 hits for the Mariners. even in his passing the "Killer" was on the field!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
