sdpikehntr
Well a close second is the Sandy Bar & Grill downtown Mpls. The wood grilled steak is great. I am with TruthWalleyes, I have my own corn fed stock and butcher 2 times a year and a T-bone on my grill sitting on the deck eating it with a cold smooth one is hard to beat. (I can really tell the diff between farm fresh meat and store bought meat.) I have not ordered a steak in over 3yrs, usually get seafood. BLACKJACK
Bought a 1/4 beef last week, last night tried it out for the first time, rib eye steaks, a little Montreal steak seasoning, potato wedges, a couple beers, the steak turned out great, juicy and tender -- best steak was right on my deck!! eyeguy 54
Since the ? was where's the best PLACE you've had a steak I would have to answer Ocean House in Maui. Great place. As far as where's the best Steak I have had I can't answer cuz I've had a lot of great ones at different places. I remember a filet mignon I had in Kankakee 25 years ago at a place and it was one of those steaks that almost melts in your mouth. And quite a few awesome cuts of beef have been right on my deck too. I love venison but sometimes I just have to suffer and have cow. archerystud
For the price I do prefer to sear my own (rib eyes or NY strips) to a medium rare consistancy.I'll second Charlies Steak house in Orlando. It was very good as I remember.Manny's in MN is very good but defintely pricey. For my money in MN I do like the way they do steaks at Texas Roadhouse. Very good steak meal at a reasonable price. Daze Off
Best steak I ever had was bacon-wrapped tenderloin at Jess & Jims in Martin City, MO...southern suburb of KC....came with a potato the size of a football and pickled beets....nothing goes with steak as well as pickled beets... bobbymalone
nothing goes with steak as well as pickled beets... I like to just take a big chunk of moist dirt as my steak accompaniment. It's a lot cheaper than pickled beets and they taste exactly the same.Tough to beat a "no-name" on the grill at home.
reinhard1
come on, where is the bizzare foods in your blood. as far as no name steaks, as a retired meat cutter for 35 years and selling the stuff-look at the ingrediants. anything other than just beef is off limits to me. you can do better at home with something you picked out. i know it's more conveineant but whatever floats your boat. just a suggestion. good luck. McGurk
No Name = No prep needed; beat to snot and cryo-vac'ed in a salt solution in single serving packs. I'll do my own prep on the steaks from my quarter one at a time, thank you very much. I too have come to prefer my own grilling from the small-farm-raised beef, double wrapped in white paper in my freezer. I think I can grill as well as most $25 steak places around here (at least in my eyes!!!). Get me out to Kraft in Vegas on someone else's dime again, and I'll be happy to gush over their steak, though
picksbigwagon
I think the best steak I have ever ordered in a restraunt was in the middle of nowhere kansas at a holiday inn. I ordered the 9.99 Filet....It was and still is the best steak I have ever ordered, beef steak that is......I normally don't order steak because in the last 14 years since Kansas, I have been burned over and over again. I was once at a chain here in the cities and the steak tasted like wall paper paste. I told the server what it tasted like and he didn't know what to do, so he walked away. I talked to the manager, he just looked at me, so I cut him a piece and he couldn't swallow it. When he said he would get another one out to me, I refused, asked for the check and went to a local watering hole for heggies pizza and beer...... But the best I have ever had I cooked myself that came from a local farm.
icehousebob
Years ago, my sister and her husband came to visit from their farm in SoDak. They had just gotten a beef butchered from their own feedlot and brought a cooler full of T bones. We put two large cast iron skillets on the stove and fried steaks in butter until we all had trouble moving. There are fancier ways to cook them, but I remember those steaks over any others I've eaten. Maybe it had to do with the whole family(including the dogs) being there. SkunkedAgain
While eating the whole double porter at Manny's was my personal best (in my mid-20s) and the butterknife steak at Murray's was excellent, the best steak that I've ever eaten at a restaurant was the black & blue and a Macaroni Grill next to my hotel in Charlotte, NC. Just like picksbigwagon, it wasn't the fanciest or the most expensive but it was still the best.Luckily, after a few years of sampling the best cuts from all of my local butchers, I've decided that I am happiest with the $4.99 sirloins from Cub/Rainbow that come wrapped in a bloody diaper. Life is grand when you actually enjoy the cheap stuff. . .although I'd take a millionaire buddy's whirlwind trip to Vegas any day!

Howdy Daze, eyeguy hear. I gotta agree with you on the pickled beets!!!! One of the hightlites of my ND bowhunting trip is having a meal with Terry and Karen and having some of her pickled beets! picksbigwagon
If you two guys like pickled beets, I know I do, try this at your next campout....Take a rocks glass (coffee mug does just as well) fill it 3/4's with ice, add a couple slices of pickled beets and then add healthy pour of Jack Daniel's or your favorite Bourbon. Enjoy.....My brother calls it a "beet your whiskey (insert another name for Richard)" They are even better if they are home done and there is a little horseradish in the beets as well.... 10,000 Casts
The Beef Eater at The Prime Quarter in Madison, WI. 56 oz of grill your own delicousness with all the seasonings a guys needs. Then add garlic toast, a side salad and a loaded baked potato! I had to get my medal from the Beefeater Challege off the wall here in my office to remember the name but that was a great steak. I was a little worried grilling a steak of that size but it came out perfect! Not only that but I looked at the back of the Medal and it says that I have a free dinner comming! I'll have to take them up on that when I am down there this fall!

deerminator
For beef, a tie between Manny's in DC and Don Schula's in Orlando. Both rib eyes, which is my favorite cut. For veninson, Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill in Vegas. Work treated me to each. My favorite overall though is what I can do at home with rib eyes and porterhouses on the Weber. Or searing them with olive oil and fresh herbs in the cast iron skillet and then finishing them off in the oven. My favorite store bought marinade is Stubbs, hands down. DeBo101
Never been to an uber fancy joint, but the best steak I can think of in a restaurant was the T-bone from the Tornado Room in Madison, WI. Had a pretty good ribeye from Angelo Maxis(sp) in NYC. The Double L in Visalia, CA has very good steak as well. Maybe someday I'll get to try steak in the other part of Texas. The food in the Lubbock/Amarillo part of the state pretty much sucks all around. Cows everywhere and got tired of bad steaks.Best overall are always on the grill at home with family and/or friends. 4WheelinMama
Best steak I've ever had is from the Nerstrand meat market in Nerstrand, Mn the ribeyes are so tender you can cut them with a butter knife unless my hubby (Rippinlip) cooks them on the grill and burns them.
