AMSOIL Sabre - I'm now a believer!!

This is the second season I've run a 20 some year old Jiffy Model 30 that was stored brand new in my father-inlaws shed until last winter. It ran..just OK..after sitting for all those years but bogged down and would die unless the choke was on. It also did not idle that great. It was old enough that it required 24:1 mix and it smoked like an SOB too.

I read on the forums so many times about AMSOIL and finally after I read that guys were running it 80:1 or 100:1 even in old machines that call for 24:1, I decided to order some. Well it showed up today and I quickly mated one of the Sabre pillow packs with a gallon of fresh gas. I emptied the tank of my Jiffy and put the new mixture in.

I got it fired up and after a minute or so I could tell when the old mixture was out of the carb/fuel line. Holy #$!@!! it started running like a champ and was no billowing smoke! It idled like a top and I let it run for about 5 mins.

I guess I figured that all the reports of how much a difference this stuff makes were small exaggerations. I believe now! This stuff really does kick butt!

WELCOME AvonAngler! The more you use the auger, the more you will see that Amsoil is all and more than it's advertised to be! If you have a Perm or a wheel house, you'll find that you can open the holes without slopping black GOO on the house walls, and you can even auger the holes with the house closed!! I have ALL my 2 strokes/air cooled motors on Amsoil, and they ALL start, and run better than they did new!! Try Sabre Outboard in an Outboard! I have a '77 Jonny 35hp on a Pontoon and I can easily backtroll into the wind without noticing exhaust smell! Try a tank full, you WON'T go back! Phred52

kcOmyy, It's a synthetic. Probably the BEST thing you can do is try a gallon for yourself!! Get a pillow pack of Amsoil Saber 100:1 premix and mix it up with 8/10ths of a gallon (80:1) or in a full gallon for 100:1. By the time you've run that full gallon through, you should be a believer. If you don't like it, switch back to the Dinosauer oil.

You will notice a slight improvement in power especially in the newer units that have been set quite lean from the factory to satisfy envirnmental rules. less oil = more gas = a little less lean in the air/gas mixture.

Been using Amsoil Saber Professional in all my 2 strokes for years with great results. My son and I got on the ice for the first time this year yesterday. He got the auger out of the truck while I was doing something else and he started the auger. His next comment was, "Started in one pull.". I did have it running in my garage a couple of weeks ago though. I think it idles and runs smoother and has noticably more power with Saber. A lot of the time I will drill half way through the ice at about half throttle and then open it up just to keep the chips from flying all over.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
