Well the king is frozen. Such a rush to be the first out on black ice. Too bad I was not in the shallows to watch the fish below.

Chris and Timmy

I had another one of my single hole mornings. I drilled one hole and caught my limit, in my personal best just over an hour.

Lets hope I can find 2 more holes like that for when you guys get out with me.

Hit Candy today . . .24 fow off Baker's . . .Tank, DC, AW you know where . . portside. Second fish 13" thought I was into something . . .then they wanted everthing not moving . . .how do you bring them in then? Do a flash thing and then switch to a gold YBD as they show up. Yes there will be some disappointed to hear it was not a kastmaster. Probably caught a limit total but only a dozen 10-13 inches. Surface is a little slushy but not bad walking.

We had a real nice day yesterday on our PA crappie lake. On thursday a friend from down to camp called and said "hey we are thinking about going up the cabin friday after work then fishing sat". Sounded good so we got food and beverages squared away and Dad, Bill, And I went down after I got out of work friday. Had some chili n pizza friday night, a nice breakfast sat am, then hit the lake for the day...

I started off working over some of the lake we hadn't fished much. Drilled a bunch hole with only a nice 17 inch bass to show. Worked around back towards the others as they were into crappies. Got close and picked this big gill...

Moved a tad closer and it was plenty of crappies with the occasional gill. The all new AugustCloud Spoon prototype 0002 was a big hit! Although the fish were not too picky, just had to keep pokeing around. Some holes were good for 1 fish others you'd rip 6 out of.

Dave had a good time useing my hopper...

Alan bought an LX-1 last year and couldnt be happier...

Something is not quite right when you can catch crappies all day in bluebird skies. cool Some smaller fish but they averaged 10-11 inches with some bigger and over a foot...

014xu.jpg

We had a nice lunch of chili-dogs flavored with some crappie slime...

011ik.jpg

From 3-4 o'clock the fish got silly! I hole hopped and released a bunch of fish including this one around 13...

I'm beginning to worry, is our friend CNY Tim insane? crazy

Definition of insanity "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". Seems to me this perfectly describes his Delta Lake behavior.

DC I already know your a big fan of our beloved Lake D wink. Would have really enjoyed to read your comments on this world class fishery. Too bad you guys have to work, ice season is way too short. Agree about the super sunnies - hell of a lot of fun on light action equipment.

I guess I should have chose the beach side according to reports at least there's a few more big perch there. I don't regret fishing it. Had a good time with Frank and Tuzzy and Frank brought out lunch. Thanks Franky grin

Did a lot of walking and elminated the winter entrance until late ice when it's one of the few spots left you can fish in CNY. Trying the beach side first chance I get. wink Rosa and Karen will be back from the doctors soon, good news she doesn't have to go back to work for 6 weeks and she can drive whenever she feels ready to. She will see the doc again in two weeks. The baby is having a good time and so is granpa smile

Hit the Big O once again. Walking was easy, fishing was not. Walked out when it was still dark to be fishing during prime eye time. Needless to say, it didn't help. Only marked 2 fish before it got light out and they didn't hit. Marked 3 fish afterwards , 2 of which hit and were caught - both perch. My buddy John lost a walleye and our other friend Tom iced 1 walleye. We left at 10:00 - ice is still in good shape.

Thanks for the kind words guys. The rago conditions do not sound good at all.

John and I decided to try something totally different and headed for that fish factory known as Sandy Pond. Drive up there was pure fun with all the snow on the roads but the snow on the lake was better yet. Made walking pretty miserable. Fished out of the wigwam in about 10' to 12'. After the 1st 200 or so, started to get worried that it was gonna be "dinkfest2010". Sure as hell it was, amazing that there could be some many small perch in one place. Used several lures and switched to fairly large spoons in an effort to try to get the small ones to leave us alone. Got so bad that I removed the trebles and replaced them with a single hook. A lot easier on my hands and I think the fish appreciated it too smile. For all our work and effort brought home a very scant catch for dinner. Talked to some locals and it looks like it may just have been a bad day. They have been doing fairly well up there but I think what is considered as a good fish up there is not exactly what we would consider a good fish around here. I know they get some nice ones up there but I sure as hell didn't see any today.

Makes you realize that at least quality wise, we live and play in a pretty special area.

Dave Pman - Sandy can be a dink fest but when you get on the good ones its silly. Some of my best days on the ice have been there. And when you find crappies, the average size is better than anywhere. Weed edges for the gills and craps. Slightly deeper water than where you were for the perch. grin

Jay - thanks for the info - its something to try if we make it back up there again. I've never done much crappie fishing, either hard water or soft, but I can imagine its a lot of fun. I've caught some good size ones over the years on the south end of Darago and Bradley but its only been 1 or maybe 2 fish each time. I see the ones you and Tank seem to hit pretty consistently; you guys catch more in a single day than I have caught in my entire life!

Good to hear from you. How's work smirk.

Fished Deryder res today with sniper, augustwest and billy. Fish were not very active. Managed 8 perch and a couple gills. Bill had 6 perch. The other boys were staying for the late bite. Not alot of ice about 6 in with slush in some places.

Tank ,Bill and AW it was nice fishing all ya's today. Tank it was good to meet you and your buddy Bill. Fish were a tough crowd today, finally was able to break my dry spell and was able to ice 1 gill and do battle with a rather large slime dart on my St Croix UL rod,was fun while it lasted before it spit the hook by the hole.

Nice fishing with the Southern Tier Boys as usual. Tank...have DC show you what you missed when you left. You and Billy were still barely in sight when the small flurry happened. I wished you guys would have stayed another 30 minute!!! My original GPS mark is where the pictures of the fish came from.

Kirkville...did you get my emails on your Frontier Account?

I will call you tomorrow...just answer your Company Phone cool I always get your voicemail, stating your name and your company smile

Take care and wear sparkled condoms cry

AW
