Caught and released this laker last week on Friday. 33" and 16 pounds. What a hoot! Can't imagine getting anything much bigger through the ice, although I'd sure like to try.

Nice fish! I'll be up near Ely this weekend chasing pannies and trout. We'll see if we get to the lakers at some point. We're mostly targeting the stream trout stocked up there.

I can't imagine what it'd be like to catch one of those under the ice. Biggest I've had was a 31'' that crushed a 9'' jake while I was trolling for 'skis in Canada (and I thought it was a big musky for the first 20 seconds or so!), but it was a good 5+ pounds lighter than yours. Incredible catch.

Well I made it onto Burntside today for my maiden Laker voyage. Only ended up with one, but I marked at least a dozen. Switched baits three times and couldn't get a hit. This one came off my tip-up and a cisco. Great time and can't wait to hook into a big boy. Measured just under 21".

Yeah what the heck, live there for two years while I was in school and never brought my gear down. Spent my weekends in GR at my parents.

This feels a little bit like something a friend and I did years ago where we put some fish on the ice in our portable in a slough where there was much traffic. Several people stopped and we showed them our limit of northerns between 4-6 pounds. We left and had a lot of fun driving by seeing where people had been fishing and occasionally were setup in portables fishing this slough that was maybe 3 feet deep at best. Hmmm Cenaiko is not very far away from Champlin Mill pond. Shame on you, you had me for a while. Well done!
