Tim_Anderson
Shot this one recently. He was still chasing, either following a doe or seeking one. Came down my trail at a good clip. Had to stop him with a LOUD grunt or I think he would have ran right by. 8 yard shot. Nothing like waiting till the bitter end. My best buck to date with a bow. B-man715
Well I finally drew my bear tag after 8 years of applying!! I have four sites close to home and all of them were active. I had two nice boars over 350 lbs coming in after dark, as well as a HUGE sow (400+) with cubs that I passed on several times (can't shoot a sow with cubs/yearlings in Wisconsin). Along with several other sets of sows/cubs and smaller boars. I've been out hunting 3-4 days a week waiting for one of the big boars to make a mistake and show there face during shooting hours. But I found out last Friday that we are headed out of town for work in another week. So I decided to take the next decent bear to come in. He came in Friday evening with about 20 minutes of shooting light left. He hit the bait an layed down facing me for about ten minutes before finally moving and laying down broadside. While he was mowing down some apple licorice a sent a Muzzy screaming his way and through both lungs! He went about 50 yards and died within a minute. I had two buddies come out and help me track and drag. I think Ray Charles could have followed the blood trail!! I'm very gratefull that he expired in such a short time. I've heard/read horror stories of bow shot bears. Anyways here his is, dressed out at 230 pounds. He is my first bear, and I likely won't draw another tag for 6-8 years, so I'm getting a 1/2 lifesize mount done.

MN_Pilot
A buddy of mine was able to stick this 8 pointer on Saturday evening. It took about 10hrs to track it down. It was still alive when we came up on it the second day so we were able to salvage the meat. Made for an exciting weekend.
mrklean
Gut shot im guessing? Had the same thing happen to me a few years ago
HooknHorns
Good work on the tracking job. That in itself is a huge accomplishment when you have to get another arrow in it. never give up. Ive looked four hours for a deer that I found out I never hit. My buddy was too happy when he found the arrow seven feet up in the only tree in the shooting lane. Kept telling him I heard the thwack, well I was right.
MN_Pilot
Thanks for the compliment HooknHorns. We were pretty determined to find it!He had hit the liver dead on, one lung, and part of the intestine. He brought it into the taxidermist this morning and it scored a 136 1/2. As of this morning he said it's the biggest buck recorded for opening weekend for the state this year. Only a few more hours today for any bigger ones to get recorded. Musky Buck
Nice deer guys, I have a dilemma, not worthy of a thread but been seeing a real giant, figured if I got my archery tag for sure I wouldn't see him Saturday night he was feeding 10 yards from my turkey blind on the fields edge same thing sunday night and monday night, haven't scouted for him since, I blew it. Been watching him from Mid-July and his pattern stayed the same, oh man, I'd still have to make the shot and not get winded etc., but sleepless nights and his patterns will change soon and may have already. Won't make this mistake again. Good Luck Guys!
