93X’s Tradition

This morning (4/9) on 93X they were talking about having a tradition for our team of throwing something on the ice. This would be much like the Redwing (octopus) and the Panthers (Rats). The real interesting part was that they suggested throwing walleyes or eelpout on the ice. After hearing this a few questions came to mind. First, what do you think of this idea? Second, are you okay with using eyes or pouts in this manner? And if you didn’t like the fish idea what else would be a good idea?

definitely wouldn't be in favor of using 'eyes. i have a feeling way too many people would be angered at this, including me. pouts, sure. even better how about bullhead, sheephead? something not so cherished on the dinner table.

I think its a cool idea. I would use the Walleye personally. NOT REAL ONES! lol, but if they made something out of plastic or a stuffed animal walleye (like a beanie baby) or something I would toss it out there!

Seeing as how I always toss bait stealing Perch back, we could use them!

I thought fans, if they can be identified were being ejected and possibly barred from the arenas for a period of time (up to a year) for throwing things on the ice during a game. The exception being hats for a "Hat trick". There's no need to throw things on the ice, it's childish...ops, forgot thats 93x's target group.

With the slots and the limits set so low how could anyone justify tossing a walleye. I have a hard enough time just bring enough home for dinner table let a lone throwing them out on the ice. How about a bucket of left over minnows??? Naaa I think that would be ground for the boot from the arena!!!! I'll just bring extra hats for the Gabby hat-trick. Or whom ever else will step up!!! I'm just pumped sitting here at work wait for this series to get underway. GO WILD!!!!!!!!!

we should throw carp!!! we have an over abundance of them and who really cares about carp.......I guess it would stink pretty bad with a couple hundred carp getting tossed on the ice!!!

I think frozen bullheads would be cool. But, what happens when someone does not throw it far enough and some fan gets impailed by the stinger? That would be bad. How about a nice sized perch. They are Big enough to see and throw but small enough not to hurt you.

Lutefisk!!!! I also like the idea of drilling holes in the ice, there's gotta be some monsters in that lake! They are even marked out, just drill on one of them red spots (I think its a marking buoy that got frozen) grin.gif

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
