What's everyone using to camp in?

What does everyone camp in here? Tent? RV? If RV, what type? Seasonal?

I started in a cabin tent, my wife and I then bought an old old pop-up Then we sold that when I bought my first boat because we couldn't bring them both and went back to a dome tent. Then we had a chance to purchase an old '76 motor home, had that for a few years and sold it to my sister and got a newer travel trailer. Ended up getting rid of that for the same reason we got rid of the pop-up and actually bought the old '76 motorhome back from my sister.

I think I might be ready for a change once again but not sure to what I would change.

So.......what are you guys using?

We started out in a tent, went to a pop-up for 5 years and now have a travel trailer in a seasonal campground north of Park Rapids. We loved the mobility of the pop-up, but as you stated if we wanted to bring the boat we had to bring 2 vehicles. When we were offered a spot in the seasonal campground it took us all of 1 minute to decided it was time for a travel trailer. I wish I could have afforded to keep the pop-up, I know we would have continued to make a couple of trips a year to campgrounds that we enjoyed.

We upgraded from a tent camper to a 21-foot hybrid with the tent ends and a slideout. I would have preferred a full hardside but this one is fairly light and we can fit it in the same size spots as the old tent camper as it was about 22 feet open.

Tent - started with a huge one, went to a small ultra light 2 person. Now in a comfortable high ceiling 4 person. Use this for most camping trips. Still have the Ultra light for backpacking, BWCA etc. Looking to utilize my enclosed trailer, that I use as a toy hauler, maybe draping screen across one door for summer time, using an aero bed and sleeping in that. Getting old makes you think of more comfortable ways of doing things. ;\)

We are going to be getting a pop-up camper soon. We have a Coleman Forester, it was a $200 tent, got it at Target on clearance in Pensacola Fl for $25. Anyone ever seen a Dutchman Tab (spelled T@B)?? If I had the cash- I would def have one of those, they are pretty sweet

Right now I have two tents that I use for camping. My wife and I use a REI Quarterdome UL for BWCA and I use it for UL camping. Its a great solo tent or a "couple's" tent.

Our other tent is an REI Halfdome 4. This is our family camping tent for my wife and I and our two daughters. It's still lightweight for hike-in camping with the fam or with friends. I like this tent for winter camping also. It has a full-coverage fly and has been through a couple severe thunderstorms with no ill-effects. We've had bigger tents and different styles but these fit our style well without sacrificing anything.

Its in our "dream plan" to buy a 5th-wheel camper for a different style of camping and so we can double trailer and bring along other toys.

I am new to camping. I usually stayed at resorts while fishing, which gets a little spendy to only sleep there. My wife and I got a Cabelas Alasken Guide 6 man tent last spring an love it. Little spendy but will pay off in the long run.

Started with the 4-man Eurika for about 10 years. Put a plywood box on an old boat trailer to haul the play-pen bikes etc. When the second child came purchased a Coleman Columbia pop-up camper. This has been a great camper and say many miles. We hauled a canoe first on top of the camper and later a small 14 ft boat. Along with 4 bikes etc we have been called the Clampets. Used for over 15 years regularly. Now since kids are older and don't camp with us we primarily use an older Northstar pop-up pickup camper. Works great for 2, very mobile and can pull the boat. With this we can camp an go anywhere and it is quick to move.

Tented it until I got married and had kids. One too many flood outs in the tent and the wife wasn't too happy. Now we have a 19 foot hybrid TT and the boat has to stay at home if we go any place far away. It is nice to stay dry cool/warm and not have skunks scratching at the side of the tent 'cause some one left food in a bag right next to my head. Still miss the simplicity of being able to set a tent up pretty much any old place.

After too many floods, storms, etc, pre-kid days.......

The wife and I sleep in the back of my Tahoe. Air mattress fits in perfectly. We put the kids in one of my light weight 2 man domes.

The wife would like a pop-up or something to that effect, but the boat comes with where ever we go...so now its less camping, more resorts with cabins to rent.

34' double slide Travel Trailer... great when we have had a seasonal campsite for the last 4 years, didn't get a seasonal this year, so we will see how it is pulling it everywhere trying to find camp spots big enough? Oh well, we are going to give it a good try.

99% of my camping is boat-in, done out on the islands of Rainy and Namakan in VNP. So I use a 7 year old Cabela's XWT Extreme tent for myself, wife, 5 year old son, and 60# husky mix. I also upgraded my screen tent last year to a Cabelas gazebo with fly and awning.

The tent has come thru some tough storms flawlessly, including one with 55mph straight line winds on Rainy last year. The same storm did bend one steel pole on the gazebo, but i take credit for that one since I didnt have all the tie-downs staked out.

Almost bought a trailer to put on a permanent site after our son was born, but just couldnt. We both knew that we'd be wishing we were staying out on the lake instead of in a camper. Something about the loons calling, or listening to a family of Otters sitting on the rocks 15' from the tent, cruching down on a meal of crayfish.

I used to camp, now I RV. I have a 23' fifth wheel with the boat in tow behind that. It is the only way to go if you like being mobile, while having a boat for fishing/boating. I get to the campground, unhook boat, and then go get the fifth wheel set up. I then go back and get the boat, back it in to the site and I am ready for the next day. If my wife wants to go in to town, I unhook the boat trailer and ready to go. I absoulutly love it vs. tent camping, especially with a new born and toddler.
