HATS OFF TO RICK AND THE OTHER ADMINISTRATORS

I have been visiting other outdoors sites on the web, and have to say that FM is the best for info and keeping it clean and respectfull, and without grining an axe. I believe a person can get their point across without getting foul and vulgar. This and other sites are not just used by us guys, kids and ladies are using them also. Don't know about the rest of you, but do not think some young kid interested in fishing or sports needs to open a post and see every foul four letter word in the book. Thanks for keeping it clean and keep up the great work.

Great post! cool.gif

It can not be said to much.

I think what makes this site great, is almost all the posters put time and quality in their post's. Also almost all members of this site keep an open mind to opinions relayed and help each other in the ways which they can.

CONCUR! Great to have such a dedicated staff to take care of the boards! I used to love the DNR boards but without some one to delete the "riff raff" posts they shut it down. I know that thye get paid very well for their efforts! smirk.gif Yeah right!

THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!

Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

Thanks for the kind words.

There are so many great people who make this site what it is. I really enjoy it when I get to meet folks from FM face to face. It really is a site for the whole family.

Yes, excellent site, with great info. have never made it to any FM get togethers but i hope to this year, and thus make some new friends. Thanks to all that are involved with keeping the site up and functional. (it also feeds my addiction of fishing while im not on the ice)

My Username is kwiggy and I am an FM aholic. There, you know admitting it is the first step to recovery. I wake up in the morning and the first thing I need is to check the posts. Once I have read one, I have to read more. I am encouraging others to read this site and we are finding our conversations relating to what we read here. This causes me to read more. If I don't get to read it as often as I wish, I get crabby and shaky. Is there help for me? I'm not so sure these people deserve all this credit as they are making my life ridiculously difficult due to my addiction. Just kidding of course... this site rocks and I really am addicted to it! Nice job everybody. The normalcy is refreshing smile.gif

Couldn't have said it better myself boilerguy. Without all the members, pro staff and Rick none of us would have the chance to learn, share and become friends and neighbors with people we may never have met. Thanks for the post and for everyone who contributes to these forums.

We try and keep this site family oriented at the same time putting out top notch info. Thats done with good staff and good members.

There are other sites to that offer a different twist if you will. Some I have friends at but no they aren't a family site.

Yeti, thank you for turning something positive around. Sadly I expected this.

I'll add negative comments in general to the list. If we allowed them to take over the forum, this would be a different place.

"Yes. It's a great site to talk to other fisherman and gain knowledge." Isn't it nice to be able to do that on a positive note.

I have fish for dinner quite often.

Photos: Consider being able to post them a privilege.

The Guidelines, much like what a professional photographer would use. Use them as a Guide to taking Quality pictures. You'll be greatfull to have them years from now when you flip through your photo album.

Like your home, you have rules. If I enter your home I respect them. If I don't like them I don't come back. If you don't like me you don't invite me back.

It's been six years now for me on HSO/FM, and it's been a true pleasure batting things around on all these boards. With the the large number of varied interests I have had over the years, I must say I've enjoyed the additions of some of the more recent topical boards, too. There's more to life than hunting and fishing (well, maybe not MUCH more), and those other boards are getting a lot of traffic.

We've got so many knowledgeable members that you never know when a great piece of advice is going to come straight out of left field.

Not to mention all the people I've met and friends I've made through this site. FM started off as a good place to learn and grow, and every year it's just gotten better.

Keep it up, everyone!

A big Thank You from me, also. I've been on here for coming up on 4 years, and have tried to give back as much as I have gotten, but I don't think I'll ever come close to that. My wife and friends have noticed that I'm on here so much that they have now dubbed it "fishporn," as in "Are you on fishporn again?" when I'm online. But, it has gotten all of them (and me!) more interested in more diverse outdoor activities, and has gotten them more results. I actually prefer the semi-sterile enviroment in here compared to other forums and the endless bickering; I think it's a nice compromise.

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
