mnwild
Here is something different. What is everyones favorite fast food french fry?? Mine would have to be between Wendy's and Culver's. Anyone else??
Down to Earth
Don't know if it qualifies as a fast food resturant, but Ruby Tuesday's has very good fries.
HossFisher
I agree with Culvers, but not Wendy's. Half the time it seems like they dont even cook them there so soggy. I hate to say it, but i really like McDonalds fries.
Coach Dog
I'll go with McDonald's. They have their own potato farms. To me, Culver's just seam like the generic crinkle cut you buy in your grocer's freezer and I think they are too thick so they get soggy easily. The rest of Culvers' menu is the best, hands down. You can make an argument that Culver's isn't your typical fast food as everything is cooked fresh and to order.

IFallsRon
Val's in east St. Cloud has great fries ... crunchy and too hot to eat.
Hammer Handle
I would say McDonalds too.Although, they are not near as good as they were years ago. They switched from frying in lard to vegetabel oil. The lard-fried ones were the BEST!
Whoaru99
Think I'd have to go with fresh McDonald's fries too.OTOH, I think they're some of the worst when cold.

mnwild
not trying to get off this subject but if you wanna try a very good burger and your in the Coon Rapids or Fridley area try a place called Shortstop bar & grill which is in Coon Rapids on Northdale Blvd or if your by Fridley is another SS bar and grill in the old Joe DiMaggio's location on Moore lake drive. Its the best burger I have ever tasted.
Whoaru99
Somewhat OT, but still about french fries... I saw on a cooking show about how to make the "best" home made fries. It had to do with a two or three step process where you deep-fried the taters once, then cooled them down to stop the cooking, then deep-fried them again. That may not be exactly the process because it was a while back that I saw it - but something to that effect, anyway. Has anyone done this type of cooking process with fries? If so, was it worth the effort?
JollyT
That's how all your fast food fries are done. They are fried at the factory, then flash frozen, then fried again at the resturant. The double frying makes them crisper. Some fast food fries are also coated, notably BK.The double frying also works great with chicken nuggets, onion rings etc. Makes them crisper on the outside. Jim Almquist
The double fry process works great. One of my favorites is to make my own homemade poetato chips. I slice up a bunch with a mandoline and then fry till they are extra crunchy the way I like them and they always seem to be a big hit.
bucketmouth64
I would have to agree with earlier posts about Val's in St. Cloud. I grew up there and each time I pass thru I stop in and eat. One of the oldest restaurants in town. My kids love it there too and they usually suggest it before I think about it.
zamboni
I would have to say McDonalds as well. All the Hardees around here closed, but when they were open, I really liked their curly fries. There was a BBQ joint in Kansas City called Jake Edwards I used to eat at- they had sweet potato fries, best fry bar none I have ever had.

Bigsmitty
So where in St Cloud is Val's. I get down there once a month and would like to try it out. Although it might be tough to sway my teenage boys away from Hooters.

IFallsRon
Val's is on St. Germain, a couple blocks past the eastside Target on Lincoln Ave. and Hwy. 23. From Hwy. 10, you would turn west on St. Germain at the corner by the Copper Lantern.
