Apparently this was caught without being hooked - it would not let go of the "small" northern that was! Caught on a river in Canada. 55lbs 56 inches - the pike it's eating is 36 inches.

Top fish is not the same as the bottom fish.. and its was caught on hook and line.. and was caught across the sea. I want to say Holland?... The top 2 picts are not connected at all to the bottom pict, and have been floating around the net for a year or so now.. Still impressive fish!!!

Just say NO to Canada, But Yes to HOLLAND. grin.gif This picture has been around more times and the location keeps changing. I have even seen it on the "braggin" board in gander with a photoshop face job. I think it has officially been proven to be caught in Holland. It is a nice fish though.

I have even seen those pics up in a local bait shop that the owner said a guy brought in and was with when it was caught. He told the owner that the guy in the photo was his cousin and that the fish was caught on the rainy river! Man, the rumor mill sure does run rampant!!

There was a list in either In-fisherman or Field & Stream recently about world musky / pike records and the U.S. isn’t even in the top 20. I don’t even think Canada was in there. Makes you want to catch a plane.

All right, now who was the wise guy?!?!?!

I just was watching the Channel 5 Morning News and they were showing pictures of fish that viewers caught over the opening weekend. Lo and behold, what is the big fish picture winner but our favorite northern pike photo, with some guy named Larry catching it this past weekend on Rainy Lake. The news anchors and weather guy kept going on about how could he get that thing in the boat, so on and so on. I almost felt sorry for them, ah, if they only knew.

If you're on this board, Larry, fess up now, and congrats on pulling a fast one on Channel 5.

Oh boy, here we go again with the Blom pike. I have recieved that picture in emails for a year now. It has been caught on Red, the Rainy, Lake of the woods, Mille Lacs, St.Clair, Erie and even one email that stated it was caught on reservation waters? confused.gif

i emailed them also, hopefully they wise up a little. KSTP isn't the most accuarte news source. They have a history of running with just about any piece of garbage they think is interesting whether its fact or in this case fiction.

But I guess they don't see the need to fact check a simple fishing photo.

The Zander photo is rediculous. There is a black line around the fish and for goodness sake there are two front fins. Very poor PhotoShoping, That is hilarious.
