Uh, yea. Oops. My bad, I guess. I was so intrigued about this thread, because I remember posting when it first started. OK, now back to letting it fade into forum oblivion.

LOL, we stickied this thread to the top of the forum long ago. It will most likely never fade off. grin

HSO is about having more fun and this thread has brought more fun to many in the unlikeliness of forums and it is has become an icon throughout HSO's legacy. It's here to stay as long as people still visit it and enjoy it. smile

I just did some research and i have come to a conclusion:

A) I am quitting my day job to start manufacturing free 21" box Fans.

B) I am quitting my night job to start manufacturing free 21" Box Fans.

C) I am quitting my hobbies so i can start manufacturing free 21" box fans.

Since i am quitting my day job, i have spent most of the last 3 weeks at work, creating a business plan. I think i have a solid plan and product with real "need factor".

After careful consideration and after applying for the patent (to stop thieves from stealing my free 21" box fan idea) I now feel comfortable giving you the details...

Marketing is all about one thing, bacon! Bacon will not have anything to do with my business plan, but bacon sure is good.

Keys to a successful 21" Box free box fan business: (I am very open minded and take advice whenever i can get it, but please don’t tell me how to run my business, as this plan is obviously perfect. if you have an idea that would make this plan even better, then start your own business, i don’t need to hear about it)

Ok, so keys:

Key #1 to any new business is capital, but since these 21" free box fans are going to be manufactured then given away for FREE, or best offer, i won’t need any capital. (That one came to me in a dream 2 weeks ago)

Key #2 is to have a solid plan. Plan your work, then work your plan. That’s what i always say.

Key #2 sub. b is to make sure to stay on task and not be side tracked by other plans. Once 3 years ago i was working on another plan that seemed to never get done. Then, after several weeks of no real accomplishment, i realized that i often got side tracked with stories and other topics that had NOTHING to do with my real plan. Now that i have learned my lesson, i have been able to stay 100% focused on my plan. In fact 2 years ago i was working on another plan, to help the toilet paper companies to sell 5% more product, by simply printing stories on the toilet paper for users to read, and until i stopped working on the plan, i didn’t get side tracked at all. If you think about it, 5% is ALOT to a company. Imagine if Ford sold 5% more trucks in a year. Or, better yet, what if Chevy and Ford sold 5% more. I figured it out and they would in fact make more money. So like i said, Key #2 sub B, Is to make sure to stay on plan.

Key #3 to any really good business is location. I have found the perfect location to produce these 21" free Box fans. It is in a higher cost area, but with all of the money i am saving from having no overhead, i figure this is worth the extra cost. I’m working with an accountant, to see if i can get the buildings mortgage added to my overhead, so that it will be free too! (Its simple thinking "out of the box" ideas like this that really help make this KEY #3 instead of #5 or even #6)

Key #4. Being able to Google any questions you can’t make up answers to on the spot, or if they are actually important, that you can find a trusted expert waiting in a forum to give you free advice.

For Example, i googled "keys to a new business" and found that JUST LIKE I ALREADY KNEW, that there are 6 actual keys. 7 keys is too much to worry about and anything less than 6 is just an "idea that will probably never really happen" anyway. So yes, google is amazing for more than porn and videos of skateboarders racking their boyhood on railings. If you don’t believe me, try it. Although this 21" box free box fan is pretty much my own idea, you may find that you have a business idea waiting for you! Even though you will probably fail, don’t listen to people say you can’t do something or that it won’t work! Stay positive! I never tell people they won’t make it, even though i know all of them are just idiots wasting my air. Project positive energy and you will get it in return. Don’t let the world full of deadbeats and nay say’rs bring you down. They are all just morons anyway. Don’t be trapped with name calling and fickle hatred. Let’s see all those negative people, maybe even your ex-step mom, say you failed and didn’t amount to anything when you open up your own free product manufacturing, with no overhead at all! yah that dumb b*atch will shut her trap and leave you and your 4 A.D.D. children alone then, wont she! You'll show her! So stay positive.

Key #5 Keep It Simple Dumb Dumb. Or K.I.S.D.D. as i like to call it. No need to re-invent the wheel here. just K.I.S.D.D.! This is going to be one of my strongest strengths i think. I’ve been told by many very successful bar owners and vacuum salesmen that having a strong strength is really important. In fact turning your week strengths into average powered strengths is even better, this helps you grow. But first you have to have strong strengths. If you don’t you will not grow when you try to turn the week strengths into stronger or even REALLY strong strengths. (and that’s Key #6)

Key #6 is to plan for growth. If you’re not growing you’re shrinking. Think about it. I know this may blow your mind, but take a balloon....blow it up. Now stop blowing it up...see how it let the air out? yah, because if it’s not grow...its shrinking. That’s just like business. You have to be getting bigger and bigger. And, if your product is free, your business will never pop...like a balloon. (Like the one I just talked about, that popped)

So, there is just a sneak peek into the business plan i have. Here are a few ideas i have been kicking around...but none of this is "locked in" yet...

Delivery: I'm thinking we would offer free deliver on any order of 3 or more fans.

So that we don’t have to waste money using old methods like UPS or the US postal service (like that was going to ever be a viable business anyway...post office..pft) anyway, so the idea is to make our own vehicles. I thought it would be fun to use older model VW vans. Thoughts on this? (did a little pee just come out when you read that? Yah me too…it’s a GREAT idea!)

I was thinking of getting the parts to make the fans from china or maybe one of those south american countries that complains about not having enough jobs because of floods, or earth quakes or whatever their problem “this year” is. That way i will make more money on this business.

See, if the fans are free to the customer, and it costs me $20 to make them....but then I can find a way to use child labor (plus i like to help kids get new opportunities) and make the fans for $10...that means i make $10 MORE per fan than if i had to pay $20. I know a lot of kids don’t understand why they have to take math in school, but I think we can all see the benefit now.

Stickers: Stickers are important on any free box fan, but i was thinking can people find their own stickers. I mean, i am already taking advantage of them with the free fan i am giving them. I dont know if i should go too far, too fast. Maybe i could offer a "sticker package" as a free option on the side, and let the customer decide if they want it.

Ok, i have to go home now, it’s been a long day at work already. Look for my ads on Facebook and HSO. I'd like to have this running and taking orders by at least 2pm the day after tomorrow.

Cheers.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
