How many times have you been out?

I have been extremely fortunate as last Saturday marked my 37th time in the field this year. Most of my hunts have been with the bow; however I have also hunted with a rifle for two-days, a slug for five-days and hunted with a muzzleloader for five-days. There were also two Grouse hunts thrown in as well.

It has been a fabulous year having seen dozens and dozens of deer and passing on several each time out. Just being able to watch things unfold is sometimes quite amazing. I have witnessed bucks fighting on four different occasions; twice they have been less then ten yards away from me! Close enough to hear them grunt and pant, see them drool and really hear the antlers crack when they go at it! It was pretty awesome.

I still have to get out pheasant hunting a few times and that should bring the grand total beyond 40.

For some reason, the wife is not as proud of my pending accomplishment; can’t figure out exactly why…

Approx 7 three day weekends. Not alot but it was enough to fill the tags. I should have held out for a bigger buck but there is always another year.

Lucky you. Always seems when I hold out for a bigger one I end up going without. frown.gif

That's me so far this year, lots of small bucks seen and me still with a buck tag, but theres time, theres time...

I average about 3-4 times per week with the bow, 4 days shotgun and so far 3 days muzzy. But it still goes too fast....

Since bow opener I only missed maybe five days thru rifle season. I only made it out for a couple hours a day but it was quite enjoyable finally taking a trophy with a bow for the first time. Tags are filled, now its time to move stands for next years hunt and clear shooting lanes, and get the ice fishing gear out gl2u all.

I'm regretting passing up so many "decent" bucks...mostly because it is so miserable now. Before daylight savings I hunted every day but since then it's just been fridays, saturdays, and sundays. Quite a few all days hunts never leaving the woods. I don't feel like like eating tag soup ever again so I'm letting the arrow fly at the next fork antlered buck or better...too cold to wait for a P&Y. I regret my season so far blush.gif.

been stand hunting about 14 times....give or take....

Seen a few bucks, some does, but nothing within bow range.

Starting to think this year might not play out so well, but there is always a few weekends left.

unless I go icefishing instead! smile.gif

we roll one season right into the next.......fishing rolls right into bow season for me and that rolls rightinto gun and bow again and fishing. March sucks.....Nothign is open but this year i will varmint hunt then. being this is my first year of college, i havent gotten out as much but i spend every spare hour i can fishing or hunting. there was a season about 2 yrs ago where i only missed 2 weeks total between sept bow, gun, and what we refer to as late bow season. Also there was a time when i was about eight or nine yrs old when i never missed a day by goign fishing for at least four hours every day. Man i miss those days........ frown.gif

32 bow hunts- I count each sit as 1, never sat all day, several days had 2 hunts, am & pm.

4 days slug hunting, plus 1 extra evening sit.

2 days rifle hunting.

1 day ML hunting, plus 3 additional evening sits.

Bow season was poor for me, saw a lot of deer, never saw a buck I wanted to shoot, only a few does, & something always happened so I didn't get a shot, wasn't my year with the bow. Shot a fawn right before gun season, because I wanted to whack something.

Firearms seasons were much better, at least one deer with shotgun, rifle, & ML.

I get out hunting around 80 days a year. It's nice not having kids and an understanding wife. Turkeys, bear, bow and rifle deer, grouse, woodcock, pheasant, sharpies, and huns. I used to hunt rabbit until the season closed, but have replaced it with ice fishing.
