Deer with warts

Not sure if this has been going around at all but i have some pics of a deer with some major warts/growths. Not sure how to post the pics. If someone wants to do it, I will forward to them.

It's called cutaneous fibroma and is basically a viral skin wart that's likely spread by a biting fly. It's in the same general class as human skin warts. You often see one here or there but it's rare to get them that badly. While they're ugly, they are not contagious to humans. Unless the deer has a secondary bacterial infection (really rare), the carcass should be fit for consumption. Since they don't attach to meat, they'll come off with the skin.

I should have qualified my answer. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't eat one that looked like that. However, I wouldn't hesitate to eat one that had a few of them. They're typically found around the head and neck and do come off with the hide.
