Got this nice slimer on Saturday while tullie fishing. She was cruising right in with the tullies & getting nice & fat off 'em! The rod is 26", so figure somewhere around 30" or so. Not a monster but definitely alot of fun on a light rod, 3lb line & a 1/62oz hair jig! I also got lucky with another smaller, 2lb pike. Hooked both of em right in the upper lip.

where are you fishing? You can't target pike right now in minnesota

Better call TIP!

I better turn myself in I also have been Bass, Walleye and Sauger fishing in the last 3 weeks.

crazy

Why is it so hard for people to read the regulations so they do not look foolish when making statements like "You cannot target Pike right now in MN."

I'm guessing Croix or 'Sippi backwaters or shallows which is perfectly legal. It's alright, someone who never fishes the rivers or border waters might not be 100% in the know (just be sure to check the regs before you try it the first time). These forums are educational as much as they are entertaining.

Any way, NICE FISH! I'm jealous.

border water, all fish were been cpr'd btw. Ive boated 5 or so fish over 35" this month along with a 30" walleye, awesome way to start the 2012 open water season. smile

on a side note, one of the fish i caught had a lampry attatched. this is the first time ive seen these nasty little critters. have any of you guys seen them on the river?

I've never seen a lamprey in the water before, but I hate you for giving me pike fever 42 days before I can cure it. cry

It's even worse when you go out throwing beetle spins and curly tails and see them chase them back to the boat....

Last spring when I was going to school in Duluth I stopped down at Park Point there during the smelt run. One of the guys got a lamprey in the nets. Nasty little buggers...
