Where is your dream hunt?

Who, what, when, where, and why? For me, I have always dreamed of hunting Kodiak Island with a bow (for brownies). Not sure if I will ever have the "you know whats" to actually follow through, but man what a thrill that would be. How about others, anything you have been dreaming of? Lets hear what you think!

Always wanted to go out west somewhere to hunt big game.

I wasnt real picky about what I would have liked to chase. Elk seemed like a dream of dreams, so deer or antelope would have been cool as heck.

Well, an offer came along to hunt Montana for Mulies this fall on a 12,000 privately owned ranch, and both Smallie Hawgin and I drew buck tags! Talk about unlikely odds to both get drawn!

So my dream hunt is now a reality!

I had it last year, winning the Minnesota bull elk tag. Even though I did not get a bull, it was the best hunt I have ever had. Met a lot of great folks, and made some great new friends.

I am a deer fanatic, my dream hunt would consist of an archery hunt for mulies or giant whitetails in either Wyoming or Montana...or one of the hotbed areas for whitetails like Pike county Illinois or Buffalo Conty WI. I've gone elk hunting twice now and scored both times with a rifle, so an archery elk hunt like in Arizona or New Mexico would be a close second or a tie for my first choice. Someday I will make these a reality.

Oh yeah BLB... I'm nothing but jealous of that buck tag you're holding. I wish you good luck. I would already be packing my bags I think. grin.gif

Hey JLM start applying for the spring hunts out there. You have to get a guide anyway, so shooting with a bow would be no problem. They would back you with a large rifle. Those guides tend to shoot the bear right after the client does, unless you drop it and put another round into him quickly. In the spring they are a little easier to put the stalk on than in the fall.

Quail in Texas or Oklahoma, Chukar & Huns in Montana, mixed bag for up to 7 different species of upland bird in N. Central Idaho, toss in Ruffed Grouse in Canada. Dall Sheep in Canada, Elk wherever, and Marco Polo sheep in Asia. I'd really love to take a Marco Polo someday.

Wow, some great hunts, thats for sure. I am with you on the Marco Polo's, thats for sure. Talk about extreme hunting conditions. BLB, good to hear you got a tag, I hope all goes well for you. Fisherman, thanks for the advice. Anyone else? No bison, mountain lion, or even African dreams out there?

Bowhunting for elk in New Mexico, Colorado, or Idaho; bowhunting for big whitetail in Canada, Wisconsin, or Iowa, bowhunting for caribou, and what the heck as long as I'm dreaming, how about an African bowhunt safari??! Also a duck hunt in Argentina would be one of my first hunts I'd book if I won the lottery.

My dream hunt would be wherever there is B&C whitetail. Whether that is Iowa, Kansas, Saskachewan, Alberta; I would not care. Any of those places will do grin.gif. Actually, could have a hunt down in Iowa this year...if I draw. Hopefully my year will be full of excitement!!

Not unlike BLB, it looks like I'll be going on my dream hunt this fall too! We've been trying to get into Colorado for Elk and according to the HSOforum, we were finally drawn this year for a bull tag in the rifle season. I have wanted to go on an elk hunt for as long as I can remember and now it looks like I'm going this October!!!!!! grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

I have this burning desire to hunt Caribou. I think it would be cool to go to such a remote area of the world and hunt the Leaf River herd.

Extreme

I was notified yesterday via email that Iowa had charged my credit card for my Iowa license. If you applied over the internet you should have received a email by now. If you applied by phone you should be able to check the Iowa DNR HSOforum pretty soon to see if you got drawn. Good Luck! I have been drawn 4 years in a row for Iowa now. It's not uncommon to see 50 whitetails a day down there.

Mine would be a trip to Saskachewan for the monster Whitetail. Watch the outdoor channel everynow and then they have a hunts from there. Hard to understand how they can pass on some of the deer they do. Then again when you have that many monsters walking by everyday you have a reason to be picky.

Since we are dreaming

Stone Sheep, Alberta or NWT, Desert Bighorn AZ, or NV, Marco Polo, Mongolia, Argalia, Asia. But the chances of any of those happening are slim to none, and slim just left the building.

A charging lion at 100 yards and closing in: there I stand alone, except the company of my 325 WSM rifle in my hands, my Desert Eagle strapped to one side, and a Katana strapped to the other, in the open meadow. The cross hair of the Swarovski locking on the forehead of the lion and in a flash of thunder, the lion drops to its knees. I quickly close the gap and out comes my Desert Eagle: pumping to massive holes into the shoulder of the beast. Finally, the Katana is unsheathed and the beast is opened from throaght to arse.

What a dream. grin.gif

Snowgoose; we applied by phone. Took a while to get my hunters safety cert. through to them. I faxed it 8-9 times before they could read it. Hope we get a tag. We are putting in for the late smokepole hunt. Starts the week before xmas. If we get a tag, I am going with TJM here on FM. I would love to chat more about it. If you want email me at accounting (at) geminisportmarketing.(com). I hope it's a dream season!!
