Works good for trolling as well as other techniques, set your drag loose enough so it'll slip before the rod breaks and your rod won't break. I still use Fireline on my trolling setups cause I think it holds up better when those toothy LOTW Pike decide to visit the troll spread.

I made the switch to P.Pro last season for trolling. Reason: Power Pro is all I can find in town. I am very satisfied it so far. Thin, no stretch, and easy to work with. One Drawback though- braided lines absorb water, so it splatters water while you reel it up. No big deal though.

Power pro is awesome!! I even switched my ice fishing jigging line to the power pro " ICE LINE " 1 lb diameter is about 8 lb test!!!!

I agree!! 30 lb power pro, you can probably anchor your boat with... also, it will cut your hands very easily

Its the real deal IMO. I love to use the stuff no matter what I'm fishing for. I like it when I'm jigging too. Just make sure your drag is set otherwise all you'll have is the lips and no fish.

Just do not set the hook hard on a tight drag!

But I use it for all kinds of trolling (long line, bottom bouncers, etc.), casting and jigging. Only thing I don't like it for is bobber fishing.

I was one of them people that started out on fireline then found powerpro. Back then fireline frayed a lot and you had to change it every so often. Powerpro isn't like that as bad, sure it gets worn out but it last much longer.

I did hear that the fireline this year is going to be much better because they changed the line so it doesn't fray like it did, its suppose to be pretty much like PP.

I've used P-Pro for 3 years now and have had no problems trolling with it. Fish head 2 years ago I tried an experiment when trolling I would use 1 rod with a leader and 1 rod without for the whole season and IMO it didnt make a bit of difference. If you troll in really clear water it probaly would make a difference.

I am also one of the Fireline converts. I really like PowerPro. I use it on most of my lines and just got done spooling up two of my muskie reels with it. I used it for trolling last year and started the season with a thin titanium wire leader, but then noticed that my lighter lures didn't have the right action, so I stopped using leaders all together for everything but muskies. I just make sure my drag is set properly and there is no way that a snag will break one of my rods, even when they are in the rod holders.

I dont use a leader of any sort on my PP. For one I dont have to go through the hassle and second the fish really dont seem to care. When Im ice fishing I normally use PP for Pike/Eye's. I dont use a leader when Im fishing for both of them.

When I'm trolling raps in the summer I dont use a leader either. One reason is I have a nice reel on my rods so there isnt a need for a "shock absorber". Secondly when your trolling raps the fish dont swim next to it and say "Ohh no! Your not using a floro leader." Most are just reaction hits anyhow. And when that pesty pike hits when your trolling for eyes you atleast have a 1/2 of chance that he wont break the line.

Thats just what I do.

Agreed, Power Pro is a great braid. I even had two year old 50lb test and still landed a 38" Flathead and that thing fought like a shark. Well what my imagination of fighting a shark would feel like:)

For trolling I don't use a leader unless I'm getting bit off a lot by northerns. Then I'll add a home-made wire one. I tie directly to the snap. For jigging, I like to use a fluorocarbon leader in case I want to change jigs. I have a swivel connecting the two which reduces line twist.

Love it. I tried it out 2/3 years ago on one reel and now have it on all reels. No more backlashes, confidence the line won't break in heavy cover. Power Pro came out this year with the 40 lb. size that has the 10 lb. diameter. That's the ticket. The 30 lb. is thinner and some have had problems with it so the next step up was the 50 lb. size. I go with the 40 lb. size since crankbait depths are rated with that size line. Remember to spool on some mono first then bloodknot the braid to the mono then fill er up. Yes, the line can cut up your fingers when you tighten down a knot if you re-tie often or switch baits often. You don't notice it until you are done fishing and back at home.

Ive been using it for a year on the baitcasters as well as trolling and fishing jigs in the mn river. Its great for pulliing bass out of the deep pads. I dont generally use a leader when Im trolling with the pp.

I've been using PP for a few years and lost many fish the first season because I couldn't change my learned style of hooksetting. Started buying new rods with lighter actions because I'm used to, "tear their head off" hooksetting with light mono and it doesn't work with PP.

Going to PP from mono?....lighten up on the drag or better yet....lighter action rods. Then set the hook like it was your grandma biting it! (unless it's a bulletproofed mouth Salmon)
